I am in the middle of my own dining table build, so I figured I would share something from the shop on this longer project. We have all seen it, a warped or cracked table top on an otherwise beautiful build because somebody didn't account for wood movement. A breadboard end is not only a beautiful and elegant design feature, but it also stablizes the table top and resists these issues of warping and bowing. Understanding how to build a breadboard end is a critical part of understanding how to build a table. In this video I will show you not just how to install breadboard ends, but also what they are, and why you would need them. There are other ways to deal with this issue, but breadboard ends are a surefire way to make a table that will last a lifetime. So the next time you go to build that rustic table, diy kitchen table, or farmhouse table, take these tips into consideration, and don't pocket screw the whole thing together.
