Maybe every time you go tack shopping you should give the girls a budget, but this time tell them that whatever they have left over can be added to their total next time. This will teach them about saving money and being patient instead of buying everything at once

Gabby, the reason Willow thinks picking her chestnuts is a sign to pick up her hooves is because putting pressure on chestnuts or hocks is a way many farriers use to get them to pick up their hooves. Probably someone has used that technique on her.

I think it really depends on what you’re feeding them, some feeds are meant to be soaked or fed wet or you might do it for medical reasons as an example ie the feed might need to be wetted and mixed to make softer for an older horse with poor teeth. If I was feeding something powdery ie a supplement or something dusty I’d probably just dampen and maybe if my my horse wasn’t drinking enough I might add water. I don’t think any of their horses get anything dusty, just a pellet supplement and Storm and Finn some grain, so unless you were going to add water and mix up almost to a paste, I’m not sure adding water would really be of any benefit. In fact some people say that it affects the horses normal grinding action and that adding water can also impact on the natural saliva production. Each to their own though of course and I do know it’s quite common for feed to be dampened 😊

Ha ha Laura, did make me laugh when you said about all the tack stuff you’ve bought in the past that wasn’t needed, it’s amazing how it all adds up. Perhaps you should have a sort out and try and sell some it it, put up an ad in the lesson barn or even take it when you go to shows ( if that is something that happens where you are), then any money mode can be spent on things you do need lol. I must admit I have a tendency to accumulate rugs, can’t resist a bargain and it’s always good to have a few spares ( well that’s what I tell myself anyway ) 😂 I’m probably more of a Sophia shopper at first, want lots of things, but then ponder over what I really want and half the time can’t make my mind up and leave empty handed! I think Sophia shopped very well and got more for her money and also something for herself and ponies, whereas Gabby’s gloves will probably be useful too. I think I saw Gabby looking at the horse boots on the stand and some woof wear(wow) ones, they’re fairly popular in the UK and reasonably priced, getting some brushing boots for Storm would be a general all round good addition and can be worn for jumping ( although don’t have quite the same protection for the tendon area) As for the martingale stoppers, the ones you picked up were for the reins, you want the one that will secure the neckstrap to the part that attaches to the nose and and between the legs, so like this www.robinsonsequestrian.com/Equestrian-Horse-Saddlerys/Shires/Martingale-Stops-Brown/306814/size_OneSize?gclid=EAIaIQobChMInsqwu6zI4wIVGYfVCh2k4gUXEAQYASABEgLhevD_BwE 😊ps I think if I’d been Sophia I’d have got a tail wrap for Finn for when he’s in the trailer and a tail bag to keep his tail clean for shows 😊

Do u use hoof oil or grease on ur horses hoofs just because I have never seen u use it on them and it is very important as it stops there hoofs cracking and keeps there hoof strong and healthy on the outside and inside of the hooves not hating just looking out for ur horses xx

I need to challenge myself to do this! And you can find the boots for Fin online too! They might be cheaper! And if I had 50$ to spend at a tack store right now I’d buy a new set of reins and also a new bit.

with 50 dollars i definitely need a new fly sheet if i can find one cause the horse we have if he gets sunburnt at all he won’t let you touch him lol. i also think it was good to give the girls a budget bc it will teach them about saving for needed things
