I have 4 edges, had one do what you mentioned, called Moultrie they sent me one no questions asked and even gave me a discount code for my trouble. yes, these types of defects are unfortunate and can be troublesome, but the quality of pictures have hands down been the best in a cell cam that I have ever owned, and I've used quite a few different types and not to mention the functionality of their app is one of the best out there no doubt for putting statistics together. just knowing how to use it to your advantage is a learning curve.

I just got 2 Edge, they work fine. I wish their trigger speed was a little faster honestly. That and the nighttime pics are not the best. I feel like my cheap 40$ Muddy Sim Cam did better nighttime pictures. That said, they did release the new 3.0 which has a better trigger and unsure of the nighttime brightness. Still, I wish they would have added GPS to the 3.0 (only the pro has it). That and their plan options are not as nice. Still, setup was extremely easy.

Keep in mind that the tacticam was only taking one picture rather than 3 that the other cameras were taking. So even though the tacticam only took 13-15 seconds, it only had to send that one picture. Hi Dave, for us elk hunters, it's video where it's important. Might I suggest a second round of of the 30,60.90 ft tests, but strictly for video this time? Most manufacturers say their video triggers are slower, and this would be a good way to find out. Also, I have first gen reveal, and received a Moultrie second gen Delta for Chrismas. While the reveal has an adjustable video length, it was a major disappointment to find out the Delta will only record 15 second videos. If an elk is in a Wallow, you want max length on the videos. If you could detail the video length capabilities of each camera, that would be most useful. Thank you.

Spypoint are by far the worst in my opinion, slow to respond, there is a glitch with their unlimited photos that “expires” and support was by far the worst. They offered to replace the camera with one half its value which still did not resolve the unlimited photo glitch. Being out of excuses we are constantly disconnected forcing us to wait over an hour each time to get through. Will NEVER buy from them again. Bushnell has been fantastic, and looking forward to trying one of the Tacticam.

the cameras are basically radio modems operating on 27 megahertz. when you place the radios in such close proximity it will cause problems with one camera transmitting and another receiving simultaneously. One's transmitter will overload the other receiving capabilities. You have to spread them out from each other at least a few feet or more.

Didn't realize that cellular trailcams worked on 27 megahertz. I thought that they worked around 600MHz or 800MHz or or other higher frequencies. Maybe you are not much of a radio ace at all and perhaps should stay quiet.

Disappointing that the Moultrie edge was a lemon. I have four of them and they all work great. I enjoy the SD cardless feature. For someone like me hunts public land They are a great option. The only knock I have on them is trigger speed. I wish it was a hair faster. Two of them have been out for almost 2 months and are still above 90% in battery life. I have switched back and forth between video and photo on them many times. They take photos nightly. I have very few daytime photos simply because our deer are so nocturnal, but the ones I have are pretty dang good. Even the night photos are very clear depending on the humidity level. Both cameras quit sending pics to my phone....after numerous calls and 30-plus emails....I've canceled my yearly subscription on both cameras.. Why?? Poor customer service...on hold forever... most of the time, I could not understand the agent on the other end....frustrating... So I went to emails...30 of them to be precise... Finally, I got my subscription refunds on both cameras... Im looking at calling customer support on the tactacam.... and see if an American answers the phone..number one...number two...how long of a wait time....before someone talks to me... This will be my deciding factor on who I purchase my next cameras from Thanks George

After about 5 weeks of emails back & forth with customer service, they sent me a free replacement. I set it up in the same open spot & within 20 minutes, the camera sent me 100 photos (maxing out the plan for the month). No branches were tripping it & it wasn't windy. Great video! One thing I have found with the Tactacam cameras when compared to others is that if you run several cams, the plans are more economical because of how they count number of images. The number is cumulative for all your cameras. Others seem to count by each camera and you can end up with a lot of unused photos in your plan each month.

Your review was excellent and thorough! I have owned cameras from each of the companies you tested. All have eventually failed except Tactacam X Pro. Why did I choose PRO model? Complete No-glow vs Low-glow. That feature can be very important when avoiding theft or damage from bears and possibly spooking mature whitetails. Also, as a suggestion, maybe next time include locking features/theft protection and whether "bear" (security) boxes are available. Can a python lock be used with camera alone or only with security box? I've watched you hunting on public land (good video when you hit record, lol) and theft deterrents can be valuable. What about GPS tracking if cameras are stolen or dragged off by a bear? You did a great job of covering Moultrie's Customer Service. My multiple experiences with them has been horrible, only surpassed by Spypoint (the absolute worst). Tactacam's out-of-warranty solution is for you to trade your not-working camera for a refurb that, by the time you add all costs, is about $5 cheaper than buying a new X Pro. But unlike Spypoint, at least you get American English with Moultrie and Tactacam. Hope these suggestions/comments help, and again thanks for very thorough testing!

One thing to be aware of is the 2G shutdown around the world, so make sure the camera has 4G or 5G. Norway shuts down 2G in 2025, and will affect a lot of cars and other remote control equipment using mobile data SIM cards! Some companies in US seems to talk about shutdown 2G in 2024 (just to be alert).

By the way, I had a Moultrie, sorry I don’t remember the model and I immediately returned it. Initially I only received pictures with deer eye-balling the camera; hmmm? Then I decided to move the camera to a different spot. After setting my camera at the new spot and locking it to a tree covering a 4 way deer trail crossing , I inadvertently left my keys under the camera, only discovering this when I got back to my truck a mile away. When I picked up my keys after triggering the camera, I could hear an audible noise as the camera was recoding. Now I know why the deer were eye-balling the camera!

Moultries are absolutely terrible so don't waste your time. Tactacams are the only ones I have used for Cell Phone Cams and I have had alot of problems. Sometimes it will send photos and sometimes it won't but I get charged for the photo either way regardless if it was sent to the App or not. Tactacam tried to blame it on the reception but I can sit next to the camera and send a photo just fine on my phone with no problems. Also the Tactacams photos are very grainy when sent to the App but when you pull the SD card the Photos are fine so they obviously have some kind of hardware problem in their cameras. Tactacam tried to blame the grainy photos (You can barely make out some deer (pixel loss)) on the reception but again all the photos are like that and I can use a cell phone and take a picture and send it and the pictures are not grainy at all. The fact they are grainy on the App but not on the SD card itself means there is a hardware problem in the camera. If you have perfect reception like at a house or close to town then yes the pictures are better but for some reason if it's not 3 or 4 Bars of reception then the quality of the photos drops off a cliff. You would think a camera can either send a photo or not send a photo and the quality shouldn't change but for some reason it does with Tactacam. Tactacam could not explain the reason either. I'm ok with the fact that some cameras in certain locations will not get good enough reception at all times to send out every photo but i have some cameras in spots that send about half the photos to me even though they have 6 foot extension Antennas and my stand is 5 yards away and I can watch youtube videos, send pictures and talk on the phone if I want but the camera 5 yards away is struggling sending 1 photo on 2 Bars. I have tested watching videos, talking and sending pictures from my phone next to the cameras and if I can do all 3 then there is no reason 1 picture can't be sent from the camera. I'm ok with the spots with not getting all pictures in spots where my test didn't work. But none of it explains the grainy photos on top of the photos just not sending. And for a $130 camera, $20 SD Card & $25 6FT Antenna Extension I will believe the $175 set up should be able to send 1 photo every time without being grainy if the 3 step reception test I do is passed next to the camera. Another problem with Tactacam that I found out recently is they charge you for pictures that are taken and not by what was successfully sent to you. So if a camera only sends you say 500 photos in a month but took 1,500 photos on the SD card then they charge towards your plan the 1,500 photos. They obviously doesn't affect you if you have the unlimited plan but if you don't have that plan because you don't have a ton of activity or it's a smaller property then you get hit with overage charges for photos you never got on the App. Also I just found out if you have the settings set at 3 burst picture mode then Tactacam sends you Only 1 of 3 burst photos (unless you upgrade & pay extra then they will send all 3) BUT you get charged towards your monthly picture limit as if it sent 3 photos although you got sent 1 and the 2 extra are Only on the SD Card. To make things even worse and more confusing if you have the settings on 3 Burst Picture Mode with Video (video is only on the SD card unless you pay an extra $5 a month for 50 videos a month) then they don't charge you for the video going on your SD Card but do for the 2 extra photos lol. I told them if I bought the camera and didn't activate the Cell Cam Future I wouldn't pay anything to have 3 Picture Burst Mode on my SD Card so why would I have to pay for that when I do activate it. They couldn't explain it because the nice ladies on the phone are not the ones who are making these cameras and rules. My conclusion-Don't buy any Cell Cams unless you have perfect reception. My SD Card cameras especially my Stealth Cams are way better quality and the first one I bought is 8 years old and still works great. Right I have multiple Cell Cams and only get 40%-50% of pictures actually sent to me on 2 Bars, The quality is very grainy & I get charged for not only pictures that aren't sent to the App but also pictures that are taken and saved on the SD Card. One of the 3 ladies I talked to at Tactacam told me 686 photos were taken and I only got 323 photos sent to the App and that was just one camera. You can also verify this by comparing the App Photos to the Card Photos once you pull the card. Just my 2 Cents and Research. Thanks

Tactacam eats batteries on video mode. I quit using video mode because of this. I do get great pictures with it.

I just bought the Moultrie and after getting the app and setting up the camera. I set it up looking at the front door of my house. I tried walking in from of the camera at about 15 ft and NOTHING!! I tried walk bys and even jumping up and down in front of the camera. NO PHOTOS. I left the camera on and left. I started to get notified of pictures that had nothing in the field of view when i reviewed them. I did get some pictures eventually as my girl friend was leaving the house that took two hours to get sent to me though it was set for immediate send. This camera is a piece of sh&t! I wish that I had seen this video before buying a cell camera. I just hope I can get my money back for the yearly subscription that I paid for!

Have you used the new Flex-G36? I have the Flex and have loved it. I have had picture quality issues with the 36, as well as issues with selecting SD resolution quality. I reached out to Spypoint and they recognized the quality issue as they logged into my account to look at the photos and agreed there is an issue but have not said what the next step would be. There should also be an Optimal SD resolution option for your picture quality to get the 36MP image but it is not present on the app and they do not know why either. So I have been stuck with the camera as they have not even mentioned swapping it out or anything as I am pass my time the store would do a warranty exchange. Just curious if you have had similar issues.

Was the Trigger speed more a factor of too wide field of vision on the motion detector compared to camera lens field of vision width? I enjoyed the informative video. A graphic chart at the end to summarize that I could pause on would been a plus.

Spypoint FLEX lineup is fantastic! This year's new FLEX additions will blow your mind. Spypoint haters gonna hate. But just like any product from any company, there are always issues. No company is 100% issue free. #whyispypoint

Yes I just found your KZitem page on cell cameras, I was wonder because I just inherited a piece of property in Wyoming 24 hours away from me so I only get to go once a year but the cabin on the property is in a draw. I have cell phone service up on the ridge all the way around me maybe couple hundred feet in elevation I was wondering if there’s anyway to pick up a signal from my cabin work when his cameras up I have zero bars at my cabin but if I walk up the hill a little bit I get plenty. Appreciate your help if you have any ideas.

Thanks for the comparison of cameras. Have you studied antenna boosters? Signal strength and reliability are my main concerns. I want to set the cameras out and know they will work for at least a year. (Aside from a physical damage) Thanks in advance to anyone with experience and recommendation.

You might think about also adding customer service/tech support to your review. I will never purchase a spypoint again because their support is appalling. Waiting hours to speak to someone in India.

One thing to note is that the antenna on the spypoint was completely blocked compared to the other cameras.. May have had some effect on transmitting speeds

I own 3 bushnells each have been running since august have taken 10k pics combined 2 cameras on second set of batteries one on its third. Cameras have run flawless no problems what so ever. Easy set up easy app to use can’t complain with them. I’ve used moultrie in the past and they were good when the 6000 series was made camera worked great but all down hill after. I recommend Bushnell to everyone I talk to now cause they have been amazing

wondering if after all of this you have had a chance yet to evaluate the new LM2 from spypoint, I have the link micro, and am disgusted with its image quality. the LM2 is supposed to be better, but not sure I want to toss good money to an iffy system.

Excellent test. A friend recently bought some property that I will be able to hunt and I want to put out some cameras, but I know nothing about these cellular cameras. How close to the cameras do I have to get to get the pictures from them? I've used regular cameras many times, but if I can avoid going into the woods to see the pictures, that would be nice

I had two muddy's neither lasted more than a year. Personally I am done with cell trail cams. Going back to the non cell cams. The Muddy's are useless without a plan. I figured they would function as a normal cam since they have a card but they do not. Not sure if this is typical.

You had showed that spypoint does have good range however the spypoint that I had bought with the extended antenna so I could try to get some type of service for it to operate I had 2 spots that it worked but I didn't have full bars. I don't live that far out of town and spypoint is supposed to work out in the woods yeah right it doesn't. I put in brand new batteries and they only lasted for 2 days and the batteries only dropped down to 80% then the camera couldn't take any more pics. So my opinion is stay far away from spypoint they are crap and I won't buy anymore because they won't work outside of a big city

You just talked me into the spy point, I've had reveal cameras for 2 years, and I'm pretty disappointed with the motion trigger. I have watched dogs walk in front of my camera twice about 15 ft away and not get a picture at all. They could definitely improve the motion sensor. Thanks!
