Location Tour de France the French Alps At stake the validation of Tadae Pogacha as the greatest champion of his generation.
Stage 19 The route Embrun Isola 2000 144.6 km. The Queen stage in the high Alps. The stage has three monstrous climbs.
With the Alps being the backdrop of the final battlefield in the mountains, would Jonas Vingegaard and his Team Visma launch a decisive attack on Tadej Pogacar and Team UAE? Would he send his elite domestiques ahead to provide him a forward operations position to initiate a final confrontation with Pogacha? Or would Visma go for a stage win with those same domestiques, perhaps the young American phenom Matteo Jorgenson? Did Remco Evenepoel fancy his chances to move up a place to relegate Yonas to third place? With his form seemingly at its apex, this had to be on the mind of Yonas and Visma. Or would the truculent Tadej launch his own attack on Yonas? These questions would be answered on three murderous climbs on stage 19.
