I lived in Taffs Well for a number of years. Used to walk the old railway route to Caerphilly. Took watching this to properly envisage . How so much was crammed through a narrow gorge.

Excellent job. As a child in the 60s I travelled to school daily on the main line to Cardiff and, on occasion walked across the Taffs Wells viaduct. Brought back great memories.

Five separate railways through the Taff Gorge, quite amazing, nothing to beat it! Now sadly all gone except the slimmed down remnants of the Taff Vale line to Pontypridd and beyond. Coal was King, as long as it lasted, no longer the case as with all thoughs long gone routes.

Brilliant and wonderfully nostalgic. I often went to visit the Ty-Nant Inn nearby (family friends kept it), played in the large back garden and climbed up to the railway embankment to peer into the tunnel's gloomy portal. Such a majestic viaduct to have been lost!

My dad scaffolded one of those viaduct supports for the 70s Jubilee.

We have been walking around these areas a lot over the last few months and this has helped enormously to fill it the blanks as to where there were rail lines and the route of the Canal.

We first arrived in Taffs Well. Remember seeing an 0-8-0 wobbling over viaduct with coaches en route Barry in 1958. Little trains passed us from several points then. Thank you

This is a very nice recreation of an area I know well and you certainly bring it back to life railway wise. Nice to see the Taff Vale, Barry and Cardiff Railways all depicted and very busy :)

Excellent representation of the area Ben. I know this area very well have explored numerous parts of it over the years. I would love to get this for my Train Sim. Have you made it available anywhere? Great job. Would love to see some other areas modeled.

I live in the area Ben and even though it's simulated and purely based on an OS map, it still gives me goosebumps to think in terms of the history of the area, great stuff, well done! The music is fab, what is it? I write this kind of music myself, is it from a commercial media site? Really lends itself. Love the foley too.

The music is from one of those royalty free sites you can Google on the web (It avoids having the ads appear)

Well done another great rendition. May I ask were you able to use the OS Map as an overlay within Train Sim? Is this route part of your published routes? Barrie

In the early days I wasn't building routes as such, just modelling a square mile to make these videos( Quakers Yard, Taffs Well, Pontypridd etc). So they were never published as you couldn't really drive anywhere. Only more recently have I started building entire routes, like the Barry Railway, Porthcawl etc. I use a Google Earth overlay in the game when I'm route building but base my models on the 1913 OS map and refer between the two backed up by image searches online and in books, and often Google Streetview for a clearer picture of the area. It's quite involved. Map link here maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=13.57371004768097&lat=51.55144&lon=-3.26673&layers=168&b=1
