BTW, at about 2 months ago, I’ve shared the recipe for crispy tofu chips, here is the one:

This time, I made simple tofu preparations, that is Tahu Gejrot aka Fried tofu dressed in Sweet Spicy Sauce. For the tofu, I purposely fried first before processing it, until it’s dry and crispy.
Even though it’s really easy to make, and the ingredients are also cheap, but the taste is guaranteed not to be cheap, right.
This Tahu Gejrot can be a quick and easy alternative to cooking at home, with great results. Ok, for those of you who want to try it, here is the recipe, hopefully it will be useful.
Ingredients
The Main Ingredient
* 20 pieces of Tofu Pong (hollowed tofu) or Brown Tofu.
Ingredients for the Sauce
* 1 to 2 cloves of garlic, finely crushed;
* 30 ml or about 5 tbsp of tamarind water (3 eyes of tamarinds brewed with 50 ml of hot water, take 30 ml of its water);
* 1 to 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce;
* 150 grams Brown sugar;
* ½ to 1 tsp Salt, to taste;
* ½ tsp Broth Powder, to taste;
* 600 ml Water.
Ingredient for the Mashed Spices
* 8 to 10 cloves of Shallot;
* 25 to 50 green and red cayenne peppers, to taste.
