Taigen Dan Leighton is a Dharma successor of Tenshin Reb Anderson, and is an authorized teacher in the Japanese Sōtō school. Leighton is now Guiding Dharma Teacher of the Ancient Dragon Zen Gate sangha based in Chicago. Leighton has taught at many universities, currently teaching online at the Institute of Buddhist Studies of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, from where he has a Ph.D. Leighton has published articles in many books and journals, and is author of ten books including Faces of Compassion: Classic Bodhisattva Archetypes and Their Modern Expression; Visions of Awakening Space and Time: Dōgen and the Lotus Sutra; and Just This Is It: Dongshan and the Practice of Suchness: and is co-translator and editor of Dōgen’s Extensive Record; and Cultivating the Empty Field: The Silent Illumination of Zen Master Hongzhi, among others.
