I didn’t know that. Your info would have been great during the live!

Hi Dave, I think with a combination of air conditioning room with powerful light, mild breeze to rotate air around by a medium fan. And you just need to spray your Bonsai daily, water them every 2 or 3 days, fertilize them about once/half-month. You would be ok with your Bonsai.

Dave, of all the days to have my computer off I missed the LS. This was a fabulous show. Can you give us a notification when you come back for the Shohin and Mame show. please? and any other shows like Tokyo. Well it tells me I own some trees that are worth a few $ more than I thought. Thanks so much for the coverage Dave.

No problem, Jonathan. I thought I would do it on the Friday because it would be easier to film since there was fewer people. I will try and post in advance next time I do.

Thank you for watching, Julee. What kind of tree did she have? I don’t have the patience to maintain it so I come to these shows to appreciate them.

Great video, thanks! For future reference; goyomatsu is the Japanese white pine, of ‘five needle’ pine. I’m not sure what goyo translates to - i believe ‘matsu’ is ‘pine?’, but they definitely call the JWP gotomatsu. White pines, along with red and black are the most common pines you’ll see in japan. The black and red are sometimes difficult to tell apart but they both have 2 needles per ‘sheath’, where as the white pine has 5 typically shorter needles per sheath. Great job on the video and commentary; thanks again

How do they make the tree trunk all white?

Although I am by no means a pro, I recall reading that they bleach the trees to make them white

Dave FYI at 1:02 near the end you passed a group of Americans, the short gentleman talking is Bill Vanvanis who does the US National show in Rochester NY and take US Bonsai enthusiasts on tours like this.

There were a lot of dignitaries there it seemed. He was one of the many bonsai rockstars in attendance by the looks of it.

Wow there are some truly spectacular plants. This is the first Japanese bonsai exhibition I have seen (I started making bonsai two years ago at an amateur level). Truly masterpieces, thank you for shooting it for us. Greetings from Italy
