Best instructions I've seen on how to fix a car part. Exactly how I did it, took 15 minutes, thank you

Thank you for the video. I couldn't figure out why the new one I bought didn't have a bulb socket. Rather than buy a new one or make my car so that it wouldn't be DOT compliant I was able to make my own bulb socket using a 5/8 inch drill bit. If you look at the bulb there are two notches on opposite sides. After I drilled the hole, I used a drywall saw to cut notches on opposite sides. I just freehanded it and it works fine. It made a big mess but it works good now. I can fully insert the bulb and turn it to lock in place.

Great video! Straightforward and step-by-step. Helped me fix my 2007's cracked back tail light for $16 instead of probably $60 at the shop. 👍

Great video! I had to change a burnt out passenger side rear marker light on my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander (North American version), and it was a bit more work than shown here. The screw which holds the side marker light assembly in place was not accessible even after removing the 4 grommets and taking out that plastic piece; it was necessary to remove a 10mm bolt and loosen the rear quarter panel to gain access to the screw with a screwdriver. I recommend having a magnetic reaching tool handy because it is easy to drop the screw. Seems like a bad design modification to the rear side marker access dimensions since 2008.

Sorry its not true you do not need a bulb in the rear fog light in the UK. The bulb is switched on from the light control stalk which has a switch for the front and also for the rear fog light. My car just failed its MOT because the circuit (not the actual bulb has a fault even though the dash board indicator light shows its switched on. Only the right hand side has a fog light bulb fitted. It only comes on when the main headlights are on and the fog light control switch is turned to rear light position. My car is 2012 year

Hello, Nick. Well, first of all, I'm not in the UK. Not sure what you mean by saying, that you don't need a bulb in a rear fog light. Your car failed MOT because of it not working. Anyway, you don't need bulbs on both sides - that's true, except in the cases when manufacturer makes them on both sides. One is enough and it must be on the driver's side (right in the UK, left in countries with left hand drive) or in the center, like gen 1 Nissan Qashqai. Mitsubishi Outlander has rear fog light only on one side, other is blank.

What an absolute piss poor design. I gave up trying to get to that screw since I don't feel like taking the whole damn quarter panel apart.

Short screwdriver, not that complicated but indeed it was a not well thought out design. They should’ve made an access panel in the back with the mounting screws in there or at least changed the angle of the access hole not perpendicular to the curvature of the opening to the trunk, you can’t get in there with a long screwdriver forsure.

@@davebacknolaliki1452 My 2012 (Canadian) same way the factory hole is too small and dont line up with the screw. I took dremel cutting tool and enlarge the opening. As long as you dont cut beyond the black trim piece that cover the opening it is fine. My other problem is the screw is small and has rusted in place. I need to figure out how to remove the screw.

You're right. I've had to remove the one on my old Outlander (2007) and it was a piece of cake. Very easy to get to the screw. I went to remove the one on my 2010 Outlander today and it's impossible to even see the head of the screw. Didn't make any sense they'd change the size of the access hole within basically the same generation of Outlander. @@MrQuispamgolfer
