I have almost the same lathe made by Vevor, and have exactly the same problem. Thanks for the video.

Thankfully I have not had this problem on mine but I would not measure it the way you have. 3-jaw chucks are not that accurate; if you want to get a better idea of vertical alignment a better approach is to put the MT2 centre in the tailstock and the appropriate matching centre in the headstock. For me that is an MT3. Then look at the difference. The centre-drill is too small, too inaccurate for that measurement I think. Thanks for sharing your solution to your problem.

I'm agree in inserting a MT3 taper into the headstock, paying attention that no chips or dust being in the internal taper ... a test with headstock at low speed would be usefull, just to be sure of concentric turning of the tip of MT3 taper ( checked against any tool in the tool-post ... ). Now you can test the height of the tailstock with a MT2 taper inserted ... but i think it's better to check the tips ( MT3 and MT2, each against the other ) FIRST with the tailstock full retracted, and THEN full outside ... just to be sure that tailstock, protruding, moves in direction parallel to the rails of the lathe ... ( in our chinese lathes, nothing is to believed to be as true ... check first ! ).

I have the same problem with a VEVOR brand 8x14 mini MX lathe. I also have a problem with the lead screw rubbing. Thanks for your video.

I had the same model, you adjust one thing then something else is out of alignment, I thought it was absolutely junk

You have to work the alignment from the head back, levelling, then aligning. It's a true PIA. These Chinesium lathes are getting what you paid, and it shows. You get to know them pretty well when you have to take them completely apart to deburr all of the machined surfaces. Finding all sorts of fiddly crap to fix along the way. Mine says it takes an M5 taper, and surely it would, had they ground the back of the spindle far enough to accept one...

Thanks so much for making this video, it was a big help to tune up my Vevor. Nice to see a fix that doesn't seem to need a $8000 milling machine to fix a $800 dollar lathe.

same lathe, different colour. Mine is to high by 0.1 mm. About 4/1000 in your world. :)

@@originalmicdrop I have fixed it whit shimming up the headstock. Cut pieces of a feeler gauge works fine.
