/ mintvolcano - Taipei Story (青梅竹馬) directed by Edward Yang and Starring Hou Hsiao-hsien is a film that is both grand in scope and gives an excellent picture of the historical era of 1980's Taipei but also is a personal character study of people struggling to find their way and control their emotions and desires in an unfeeling urban landscape. In this film we can see the beginning of Edward Yang developing his unique and brilliant directing style. We love Edward Yang so forgive us for gushing! Enjoy this review of Taipei Story.
The Mint Volcano channel will be uploading more review of Taiwanese cinema, films, movies, Netflix shows as well as reviews of films from other Asian countries such as Hong Kong, China, Japan and more. The purpose of this channel is for media criticism and appreciation of cinema and Taiwanese cinema in particular. We hope people from all over the world will seek out these movies and share them with their friends.
