We take our very little ones on backpacking and off-roading adventures like this, too. Happy to see that you all had a great time. Cheers, Nate and Chris. I hope to see more adventures with you and your family.

Nate the point you made about being in the snow reminds me when I used to go to the desert in California in my younger years. We would show up with very high winds, 6 foot tall fire blowing sideways wearing goggles drinking a beer, just happy not to be at home. Watching people leaving because they don't like the wind.So the point is make what you can out of the adventure & make some memories. Great shot of Edwards new truck almost going off the cliff. I bet he got his heart a pumping in that moment .

It's all about the experiences Nate, my kid is 13 now and he remembers all the nonsensical things I dragged him out to do when he was little. I keep not one but two sets of tire chains in my Explorer. It's bone stock but when I have all four tires chained up I can pretty much run with anyone out in that slick stuff. I almost never use them but would not even consider going out in the Colorado mountains with having them for insurance. Nobody but truckers use them around here these days, the highway dept keeps the roads plowed....when I was a kid, tire chains were standard equipment around these parts.

That's the way to do it! If the trail doesn't fit, you fit the trail... Definitely need to have shovels and man power on this kind of road... Especially in that kind of weather. Looks like so much fun. I was on a trail last year and it got so narrow there was just no place to turn around anywhere. We had to get out the tools and make us a spot... I actually enjoyed it though.

It's easier to camp when it's below freezing, so that everything isn't just wet all the time so yeah, a lot more work when it's just around those temperatures you're having on that trip. But still a lot of good times can be had 👍 I'm not yet going on camping with my family, because our daughter is just below 3 years old and minus 20 celcius would mean a lot of extra work to prevent her having frost bites 😬 So we'll wait a bit. But I'm certainly looking forward going on the camping trips with my family. My wife haven't been into camping that much, but she'll learn 😅

Great drone footage! Keep getting that young man out there to enjoy and to learn. My 21 year old son went with me dang near every time I went out. Converted the Grand Cherokee to a camper and we would head out for two or three weeks at a time, (I had a lot of vacation time saved up). San Bernardino Mountains, San Jacinto Mountains, Los Padres National Forest and now where I live: The Sequoia National Forest 20 minutes from the Giant Sequoia Trees at the famous "Trail of a Hundred Giants"

Thank you very much Nate! I have Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 tires on my rig, (LT255 /85 R16 123Q E1 RBL), and I have been wondering how they are going to do in the snow. (I live in the mountains. (In stevens pass.) So 4WD and good tires are a necessity here, not a toy.) Your tires look to have a bit similar tread pattern, so I am watching, (about a third of the way through right now), to see how you handle this without chains or studs.
