What a beautiful slice -of-life Japanese village. It looks very east to reach for someone wanting to avoid the crowds.

Definitely a place to avoid the crowds - there was hardly anyone else there when I went!! :-) A much calmer and more relaxed experience than places that are more well-known and crowded.

Hey Amy, kind of repeat my question from last week! Basically, how are tattoos on show on beaches these days in Japan, is it still frowned on and are you expected to cover up?
@cakeswithfaces
Жыл бұрын
There are one or two beaches (eg Zushi) where tattoos aren't allowed (you can just cover them up). However on most beaches they're fine. As long as you're not causing any trouble or bothering other people, there should be no issues!

Hi Amy - thx for this video on Takeno. Not sure if I’ll be able to make it even on my third trip - there’s just so much else to explore! Btw, being a vegan myself, I really like your vegan recommendations around Japan. Do you happen to recall the name of the cafe in Kinosaki that both of you visited towards the end of this video? Keep up the awesome work!🏆🎌

Thank you! It's Ama Chaya, just opposite the station. However looking at the pics on Google Maps, it looks like it might have changed now; the more recent pics are of different food. 😭 There are other lovely cafes around Kinosaki though, and it's quite an accommodating onsen town, so I hope you manage to find delicious things to eat!

When can you start swimming in the sea in Japan as i would like to take a dip when i go
@cakeswithfaces
Жыл бұрын
It depends on the region as the climate varies from south to north, but mostly swimming season is July-August (you'll need it to escape the heat in summer!). Or go paddling in March if you can take it..! 😝

Is there any kind of beach etiquette in Japan? Can you just put your towel on the beach get changed and run into the sea like in the UK? I’m planning to go to a beach somewhere but I don’t want to get arrested!
@cakeswithfaces

I've only been to the beach when it was really quiet, so I'm not sure! I do know that theft etc is low in Japan, so you'd be fine to leave your stuff unattended and not have it stolen!

Is there anywhere to store our luggage? Thinking about stopping here after we go to Kinosaki!
@cakeswithfaces
2 ай бұрын
Many stations have coin lockers; however I'm not sure if they have them at Takeno Station as it's quite a small station. If you're staying at a ryokan in Kinosaki, they'll be able to store your luggage at the Kinosaki Onsen Ryokan Service Centre, which is directly opposite the station. That's what I did - then you can pop back in to Kinosaki Station on the way back to pick it up. The ryokan even took it there for me when I checked out. If you're not staying at a ryokan, the Sozoro Tourist Info Centre (also right by the station) can also store luggage (for a small fee). It's shown in one of my Kinosaki videos: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qKSFtWGbZqaaY4o kzitem.info/news/bejne/qpqwmYSZmHSgpX4

I believe you that it's freezing - although I wouldn't go in the sea in England, especially now they're allowed to pump raw sewage into it... Nowhere near as clean-looking as this beach, in any case!

This part of Hyogo Prefecture seems so lonely and depressing to me but,... in Winter, the seafood is so good, especially the Winter Crab (matsubagani) ... Takeno always reminds me of Dogashima ....
