I made quite a few sacrifices when I left my financially secure job in the hospital, and this included taking a significant pay cut in hopes of building a more meaningful and purposeful career for myself. I had a vision for what I wanted out of my career and its impact on my life and others...
Here are some of the things I put on my vision board:
- I want to work on something I believe in that will make a positive impact on other people's lives
- I want to work with good people who I can learn from and inspire me
- I want a flexible work schedule that will allow me to prioritize my health and family
- I want to learn the business and how it can be best utilized to improve health care access and delivery
I have now been able to achieve some of the things on my vision board but it’s still a work in progress! I do want to however share what I’ve learned along the way.
In this video, I share my best advice for anyone pursuing a new and different career which helped me get my foot in the door in a new industry. Remember to never let fear hold you back!
“It’s worth taking a pay cut for a passion raise.”
