We took Saku's daily to a dyno and here is a little bit about that. We managed to get pretty great results considering that it has completely stock fuel system.
I love TDIs. We were running our 1Z with slightly bigger nozzles with 150-160 HP once and i think it was 1,3 Bar (or 1,4?!), but since its too old, got over 400k on it already and needs to be reliable, we are running this daily driver now with 120-125 HP and 1,1 bar. At least much better than the stock 90 HP mapping which is underpowered especially in the 2000 rpm range. A friend had a AFN (Audi A3), bigger turbo, intercooler etc, 1,8 Bar and >200 HP, what a beast, sadly only FWD as my 1Z in the Golf 3 Cabrio is.

Those are very good numbers, but I have to remark that you probably are going a bit lean at high rpm because of that hp drop from peak hp until the limiter, I think with 11mm head it could be a little more consistent 💪🏼 Anyway this is a nice hard and time consuming job, considering that you kept electronic actuator and it's an old MSA15. My congratulations 👌🏻

Might be true, point of this was also to prove that u dont need the 11mm pump after 150hp. 😄

I would assume this 1,9 TDI needs pretty long injection times already, so higher pressure and bigger nozzles to decrease injection time could reduce stress and wear.

msa 15 is good for every day drive. But isnt be a good idea to put edc15vm+ 131pin? to flash simply via obd

I mean you are not wrong, but its kind of a hassle swapping every car to edc15. Thats why this dailybeater still has msa 15.

Here another green (dark) b5 AFN syncro (but without stock pistons, sprays, conrods, bolts, 17.8cr, same camshaft, double valve springs, 1.6td exhaust mainfold slightly modified, gtb2056 (bmw x5 - 258bhp) vacuum driven (I don't know to command electronic actuator), 76mm exhaust free, 12mm head, very small nozzles (0.215 -t4) , ceramic clutch SMF and lightened, still awd, meth kit from snow performance. My car is daily driven in the city, i cannot use bigger nozzles or bigger turbo (i have also hybrid based on same core, becoming gtb2571 kind of) but it load at some 3200rpm, until there if i push the throttle ...obviously makes a lot of smoke. My engine have more beautiful power graph (top at @5200rpm) but less powerfull ... but still very powerfull for those tiny nozzles (@235/540nm without meth). I also have some 0.360, but i would need new repap for those.. which i can't do myself anymore, even if i bought rewritable chips and programmer for them. With stock AFN internals i was running 224bhp daily for 4years until some rings at piston one gone stuck/slightly overheated then engine become to run in 3cyl.

Wow guy, pretty big nozzles for an 10mm isn't it? Does it have a good cold start? I thought that with more than 0.232 we should go with 11mm pump for a good atomization but this..... Makes me think again hahaha congrats!

Im running also on slightly bigger nozzles a 1Z with 1,2 bar boost, so 0,25-0,3 bar higher than stock. Not sure if the 1Z stock fuel pump is any different from the AFN, but its enough for 150 HP and above. Im running it slightly lower boost (1,1bar) and with about 125 HP for reliability, got already over 400k km on it this soon 30 year old engine

Slightly more rounded on cams, that means longer time valves are keept open. That is the main difference. Slightly more power up revs, especially if you have proper plunger and camplate in the pump.
