Having videographed hummingbirds here (see "Costa Rican Hummingbirds" on this channel), I decided to return the next day. This time before the rain started, usually later in the afternoon. The hummers were still there... I now knew they were Talamanca Hummingbirds. Big, burley, and squarely in the heart of their range in the cloud forrest's of Costa Rica's Talamanca Mountains. They were very territorial and jostled with other competing hummingbirds. I was able to catch their posturing, aggressive attitudes, and made better ambient sound recording to complement these close-up clips.
