Really like the idea of calling the new station Gowerton Parkway, a very fitting tribute to the previous layout. Look forward to seeing it develop, thanks for another great video.

Hi Marcus. Brilliant track plan on a brilliant layout. You're modeling skills are superb, well done buddy. Love you're baseboards look so well made. Because I only have a 10ftx10ft layout mine looks a bit cramped as well, didn't have a choice if I wanted 4 running tracks. Brilliant your have nice long sidings. I'm a technophobe so electrical bits go mostly over my head.☹ OK with dc though.👍 Thank you for subscribing, subscribed back.🌝 Thanks for showing us Marcus. Thumbs up thumped 👍 ....Pete.....

I'm so glad Rhymney is an influence, Wales is where my love of trains began. your excellent depot scene now puts me in mind of Cardiff Canton. I have two EWS 37/4s each with a rake of 4 Virgin liveried mk2s. My layout will be in N gauge. I hope that some of your modeling skills and taste might rub of on me. I'm so glad your'e back! Peace and health, and thanks for sharing!

Now that is looking very good for the future Marcus. Just a couple of queries to keep my thoughts clear. On the point motor when you inserted it in the mounting plate you did not turn the tabs to lock the motor in. Do I assume you are expecting the black Tac to do that? If so, thank goodness we don't have to tweak those pesky tabs any more. Secondly you called the point motors Seep. Are Seep now doing an exact copy of the Peco motor? Not criticism but genuine queries. Looking forward to the next episode. Cheers, Bob.

They are quite a tight fit Bob, so luckily they didnt need the arms bending . They are guagemaster points with peco mounts , so I guess that could account for a tighter fit . Seep style I shouldnhave said , they are just solenoids.

Great video I can't wait to see the next video soon, Rhymney station looks a little bit same as Treherbert railway station in Wales only Treherbert has a single line and then a few sidings on the side to park the dmus over night.

Just a quick question, as you’ve said in a previous video all the fiddle yard points are manually operated, how do you intend to reach them with a backscene board in the way? Great video though, it’s a very enjoyable series! Cheers, Ollie

Really looking forward to seeing this progress. As it is an old station, maybe just call it Gowerton rather than parkway as that was a new age kind of name, but your layout call it what you wish. The station building used to be and I think still is the train crew office, messing facility. Rhymney had guards and drivers based there. That was the right hand door of the building. No ticket office though, not in the times I've ever been during class 37 operation. Another solution for rhtt was that during the late 90's and early 2000's a single 37 fitted with a sandite hopper was used. 131 and 229 definitely featured at the time. 674 had a sandite hopper too as did 675.

Hi, love the layout and the Rhymney extension will be a great addition. One question, in the photos they show coaches stabled in the sidings, could you extend the head shunt to allow the 37+4 coaches to shunt to the carriage sidings for overnight cleaning? Otherwise you could shunt 2 at a time., cheers, Rich
@GowertonParkway

Hello there , yes I did look at the possibility of being able to have a longer headshunt , unfortunately though it would cut straight across my work bench which I wanted to avoid . I may look at shunting the rake in 2 parts and having a resident 08 or 09 to carry that out .

Really enjoy your videos and updates. Love the era and style of your layout especially the height difference in the main layout. Think the station area is a great idea. I was just wondering though how will you access the storage yard? With building in front of it. Looking forward to seeing it develop 👍

Just a suggestion....you can squeeze the sidings much much closer together. That makes it look for life like and you can then get all 4 sidings in
@GowertonParkway
11 ай бұрын
I need some space between them for the walkways. Its a depot where outstabling occurs , so cleaners and mobile fitters would require access . There will be a concrete walkway between each siding . Putting the sidings closer together will lose the ability to model that, so I cnt really fit a fourth siding In unfortunately.

For me, it's not so much the noise an electromagnet makes throwing a point - it's the wear and tear on the point itself, slow action would be less stressful on the working parts.

To be honest, i think youd have to hammer the usage a lot before it damaged the motors. Ive used these in previous layouts and never had a point fail luckily.
