Ying-Mi, an elderly woman who lives alone in the countryside believes that plants have emotions and feelings. Therefore she talks to the plants about her worries, and this makes her neighbors think her eccentric. Her son (Jia-Ming) works as a journalist in the city. He really cares about his mother; moreover, he is concerned that the neighbors may make fun of her eccentricity. Nevertheless, Jia-Ming is always so busy with work that Ying-Mi actually spends more time with the tree they planted together long ago or even Yu-Shuan, a young woman who is transferred from the city to the countryside to sell dietary supplements.
Like Jia-Ming, Yu-Shuan leaves her home for work and is worried about her father who suffers from dementia. Nonetheless, she turns her regret of not being able to look after her father into caring for the local elderly. She draws the villagers closer to her and even manages to ease the loneliness Ying-Mi feels in her heart. However, when Jia-Ming finds out about their friendship, he is convinced that Yu-Shuan has other purpose in mind and asks Ying-Mi to distance herself from Yu-Shuan.
As days go by, the elderly villagers treat Yu-Shuan like their daughter. They materialize their support for her by buying the products. However, as the sales figures soar, Yu-Shuan is getting unhappier.
