Hi Melissa, The Bible does say however that we can do the things Jesus did, He came as our example, and also The Bible says the power of life and death are in the tongue, alongside the extensive teachings to control the tongue. How then does this tie in with what you said here?

For me, as a born again Christian, it's so hard to Cypher through all these new "teachings " if you will, that I have come to my own place of discernment. For me, just reading my Bible by myself, and asking the Lord for Truth, and guidance ,has been the best way for me. It's just too much with all these other people teachings. The New age teachings are so far from scripture. That's an easy no for me. Im so glad Melissa, that you got out of that. Its amazing to me how God does lead us to the truth.

That (Reading your bible and ask the Lord for truth) is a wise Thing to do. But you still need fellowship. We all need each other to encourage each other, Lift each other when one can't carry themselves, Help discern by exchanging our Views so we don't get caught Up in a wrong View, learn from each other, reflect God and His Plan and Love by Being a multitude of people and personalities all forming a Body. That is what God has created His church to be, a full Body, Not everyone on their own. Try to find a church that you find follows the Lord with their Heart and Hand. Ask for Gods guidance in it and never Stop Reading the bible on your own as Well Like you do. God Bless you!

The most important thing that was said in all of this was by Melissa when she asked, "everybody pray for these people." I'm a Pentecostal, but in studying God's Word I found out a few things about Pentecostalism in general, that just doesn't line up with Scripture. All too often there's an emphasis on tongues. A reading of 1st Corinthians 12 puts Tongues and the Interpretation of Tongues as the last 2 or bottom 2 gifts of the Spirit. Why then the rust to it? And in that same chapter, verses 7-11 we learn that it is the SPIRIT that gives these gifts to who HE pleases for the edifying of the Church. I'm in a constant struggle to get people to seek the Giver, not the gift. Think of it, if there are 9 gifts of the spirit (and other functions mentioned in verses 28 and 29, why would we limit ourselves to tongues. The Bible says, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning." (James 1:17) We know this is true, so why are we focusing on one single thing instead of our Heavenly Father who bestows these gifts to His children? This has caused much harm in His church, plus, isn't it true He can only give to us what we ask according to His will? So if we aren't asking because we are so hung up on one gift, we are missing out on the many blessings God has in store for His children. Pray for me and friends working out their own salvation according to what God says, not to what some denomination says.

The latter of the gifts you mentioned as being low on the list is for the assembling together, church gatherings, in his name and the edifying thereof of those who have gathered to hear prophesying and the interpretation of the gift of tongues. Please dint confuse this with the infilling of the Holy Spirit as experienced by those gathered in the upper chamber on the day of Pentecost as described on Acts 2 How else are we to know, and for God to reassure us, that we have received the Holy Spirit without the evidence if speaking in tongues which many times have been identified as real languages.

@@matthewsmith1547 In answer to the question in your last paragraph, POWER. Acts 1:8 reads, "but you will receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.” and again in Luke 24:49, "And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with POWER from on high.” The Greek word here for power is "dynamis" and it's where we get our word for dynamite. Let me ask you a question. On the Day of Pentecost Peter gave a sermon, after which 3000 people came to the Lord. Was this the same Peter we know from before Pentecost, or was this a new Peter?

First Corinthians chapter 14 the rules of speaking in tongues that man cannot change. It’s the word of God it’s your gift from God you need two or more to translate what you’re speaking it is better to speak five words that the church could understand the 10,000 at the church cannot understand if you’re going to speak in tongues in church is better for you to stay silent and pray to God to get confirmation and if you speak in tongues again, they have to be two or more present to translate each word you’re saying it’s not you’re speaking gibberish

As soon as the Holy Spirit came over me, it was as if a spiritual veil lifted and I could see and sense the danger in the New Age. I had received Reiki a few times in person, and have a close relative who is attuned and has in the past sent me Reiki. I pray in Jesus' name to create a shield around me now when I think she may be up to sending me some. It's like an unwanted gift that the people pleaser in me can't actually tell her "no" to. When I was saved, it was my experience that I was having a spiritual /psychic break that only Jesus could lead me through. I found myself in a bath, looking at a portrait of Him my Aunt had drawn, that I had placed in the room a week or so prior not knowing I would be engaging in a period of spiritual rebirth and being born of water in an act of baptism, looking straight at His image. My relative sent me Reiki while I slept during this time, and I saw her in my dreams vividly. She told me over the phone she was surprised at how clear/light I was (something to that affect). I didn't have the words to tell her that I had been reborn. It was a beautiful time in my life.

I really love how much reverence you have for the Word. I think your testimony is absolutely amazing, and the Lord's hand is so evident in your life. Your content really is priceless. I would lovingly caution having a "knee-jerk" reaction to the heresy we see in the world and even some parts of the church though. To say that some people -- even many people are abusing "hearing from the Lord" for their own gain and deceiving countless people is absolutely true. But to say that the Lord does not directly reveal or speak to people isn't the fix for that, as it's just not Scriptural. - That's no different than grace, honestly. How many people abuse grace, and do all kinds of things that are damaging to themselves and others, all because they "have God's grace" and they "can"? The answer isn't to abolish grace, as grace is Scriptural and good -- necessary even! Even Paul knew people would abuse grace (Romans 6). The remedy to people abusing grace would be the same thing Paul and the Word does, which is teach the correct doctrine of grace. But abolishing all doctrine of grace because many abuse it is just as wrong. - I think it's the same for following the Spirit. The answer isn't to abolish all doctrines of hearing from the Lord or receiving direction and revelation from the Lord, as those things are Scriptural, which means that they are necessary for the believer. To abolish them would be wrong. But the remedy for people abusing "hearing from the Lord" would be to teach the correct and biblical doctrine of hearing from the Lord, and helping our brothers and sisters to grow solid, biblical discernment in testing the spirits "whether they are from God." - Anyway, keep up the good fight! Thank you for all your labor and love. It's very evident how much you love and care for the Lord's people, and His Word. I especially wish more had your reverence for His Word.

Never out of line with the Bible and never to replace His Word, but all of the direction of my life has come through whispers of the Holy Spirit. What an encouraging interview, thank you so much for sharing! Perhaps the only question I would raise is this: what about John 14:12 where Jesus says “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” I am in full agreement with you as I dispose the New Age influence in the church today, and it truly grieves my heart that the truth is being traded for lies in the HOLY body of Christ. However, I also see from John 14 that believers receive power through the Holy Spirit to be witnesses, and in so performing many of the works Jesus did, not exceeding the authority of the word of God. I despise the “Little God Doctrine“ and by no means do I think that we are gods, but as believers we are filled with the same holy spirit that raised Jesus from the dead to empower us for godliness.

That's important because what you say has power and it can make things happen and the reason why is because God had that speaking faith, power to create. So we have that same power. It's messed up. And really this is why it's a debate and a controversy because that that ideal is way more New Age in origin than Biblical." I disagree in what Melissa said. Our words do have power! Holy Spirit lives in us! We do have power in Christ Jesus! He gave us power and authority to overcome the enemy in Jesus Name! How is that unbiblical? See the Bible verses below. And read the whole chapter of John 14. What a powerful chapter! Jesus has said so much in this chapter! John 14:12 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. You bring up some great points! As concerning the Word of Faith movement. I question certain points you stated. John 14:12 Jesus is telling the disciples that as a result of Him being resurrected, we are capable of doing the things which Jesus did and even greater. My understanding may be off, but we can do the things He has done without claiming to be him. The first century church was a key example to this. They worked in miracles. They preached the gospel. Pretty much everything outside of dying for our sins... I think it is a very unhealthy practice to seek after signs. You made a great point that it becomes very "self" motivated. I do though however believe that we shouldn't stray from them and avoid them and in actuality expect signs without trying to force the hand of God. If the apostle Paul can bring clarity of how to operate in the giftings to the Corinthian church, then I'm sure he could do the same for the American church let alone the church by large. Once again, I appreciate your content!

We cannot forget all of the “human” hands that have altered the Bible. 🤷🏼♀️ “Greater works than these, you shall do.” So many misinterpreted Jesus and his teachings in my opinion.

I also got into the occult when I fell off the path, and was obsessed with signs and wonders from "God". Even if you don't practice witchcraft and you search out signs of God's will in your life, you are practicing paganism. Sure signs can and very well might be sent to you in the Word or even in the world, but that is up to Him, when and if you should receive that. Trust and have faith that if you have the Spirit, you are in the will of God.

What I was taught: Live a Christ-like life, read the scriptures and ask God (pray) to explain things you don't understand, and at all other times pray to remind yourself of your daily blessings. Either God will inspire you in thought or feeling or by inspiring others around you.

Thank you, the concept of the Power of what a human says. If God is speaking, say in the Gifts of the Spirit, that might be different. (Notice I said... "might") For God speaking through us CAN make things happen. If we are praying according to His Scriptural Will... THOSE are words that can make a change. BUT MAN grubby little hominid that he is.... hasnt that type of power. Words do have a power to influence the way people think, they can set lives on terrible paths or encourage them out of terrible paths, but they are not divine. Only God is that.

In part I agree we do not look for a 'word' for guidance. That is immature and negates responsibility for our actions, which should always come out of our nature, as in the good man brings good actions out of his heart. However, equally it is also dangerous to look to the scripture for 'how' you should behave, which can be feigned love. Which is also immaturity. Whenever Paul attacked his detractors he always looked at their conduct, their motives, their behaviour, their fruit. When we look to the scriptures it is always about being changed in the inside, sanctification. Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy. This Spirit of Prophecy opens with in the beginning and ends with the last word in Revelation. There can be no private word given outside of the Spirit of Prophecy, whether it's a private word of 'prophecy' or looking to the scriptures for some personal direction of whether, for example, you should take a certain job. The fruit of the Spirit such as good, kindness, long-suffering etc are the result of a changed nature. Christ nature as revealed in the scriptures should always be a scandal, an affront, a contention to your flesh your old man. It's at this junction when you see yourelf in this light and understand his kindness towards you that you understand the kindness which he gives to you, or rather shares with you for other. A good rule of thumb, if you can be kind, good etc. to other without in the slightest wanting anything in return you are growing in the fruit of the Spirit. If you only see a little of how good he is to you then this will be the measure of how much you will be good to others. Those who are forgiven much love much. This is literally all the guidance you will need. After this you will be able to judge all things and not be judged by anyone. It's the best way to attest the fruit of another.

Great video. Thanks guys. I'll bookmark this one for sure. It's always been about Gen 3:5 "you will be like God". THE LIE has not changed since the beginning and it's no surprise that THE LIE is just as attractive today - it's just more disturbing that it's cloaked in Christianese and biblical discernment is sparse.

It sounds like new age christianity is idolatry. As christians, we need to read and study the bible to understand what Christ is wanting us to do in this life. 2nd Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

It's so exciting to get a clue about the inner workings of gods mind unclouded by pentecostal interpretation and I was pentecostal EVEN the name pentecostal is built on a festival "The day of pentecost" on the day of pentecost God poured out his spirit on Jews foreigners speaking other languages and on gentiles the name pentecostal is built on that special day so they focus on the holy Spirit more than christ and speaking in babble more than the holy Spirit God gave languages so the tower was called the “TOWER OF BABBLE " SINCE GOD GAVE DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AT THE TOWER PRIOR TO THAT MEN SPOKE ONE LANGUAGE.God knows that Jews and foreign Jews who don't speak Hebrew and gentiles will gather for a religious festival called the day of pentecost and they will go to the temple God knew this before he confused the languages at the tower of babel God also in the bookvof Joel which is quite hundreds of years after the towel of babble he say" on that day I will poor out my spirit upon all flesh men women children maids servants so hundreds and hundreds of centuries later christ work on the cross and his resurrection allows God to fulfill the promise of the holy Spirit and it's on a day that didn't exist when God made this promise but he knew there would be a day of pentecost where gentiles and Jews and men and women and the curious will be roaming around how smart is God but in pentecostal circles we had tarrying back then after you got saved so after you got Jesus you then was supposed to go tarry / wait for the holley spirit looking back many ppl thought tarrying meant something other than wait and that this thing called tarrying is required to get the holy Spirit remember the kings James version says tarry which means wait so they think they are supposed to tarry for the spirit when in fact when Jesus told the apostles to tarry until the fall of the spirit it was due to the fact that God wanted them to wait for the day of pentecost so he can deliver on the promises of the spirit because Jesus is t at the right hand of the father there will be hundreds of people on the day of pentecost ( both Jews and gentiles will be utilizing parts of the temple yes there was a part of the temple called the court of the gentiles this is where gentiles could seek after the Jewish God but they did not worship together Jews and gentiles and when ppl talk of Jesus driving out money changers they left the part of the temple that was for Jews incumbered but the court of the gentiles they used to sell merchandise hindering the gentiles who were seeking after the one true God and that's a real reason for Jesus fury so once a person is a believer they do not have to wait for the spirit they already have him but God was waiting for all the ppl Jews and gentiles and Jews who did not speak Hebrew and were from other places so here's my paraphrase of the situation " after my son gets here I will pour out my spirit I will time his death and resurrection just in time for the day of pentecost I will have them wait in the upper room upon my initial out pouring of my spirit ooh I could pour out my spirit upon the apostles with out the day of pentecost but I desire all men everywhere to be saved and the day of pentecost is the perfect time I can reach many nations Jews gentiles the poor and women by my spirit and just like I split them up and gave them other languages at the tower of babel I'm going to on the day of pentecost speak to each one in their own language that I gave them at the tower of babel otherwise what good is the gospel if they can't understand it them able to understand will serve as an accessory to the gospel that will be preached that day because it will be a miraculous sign they will know this is unusual and the apostles are simple men that cannot speak there language but since it's the day of pentecost and it's a festival it will be loud so I will need to pour out my spirit dramatically and loudly to DRAW the people's attention to the apostles some will swear them drunk though but they will be practical and effective they will preach ppl will understand it in their own language and three thousand will come as a result but I hope the ppl in the future don't expect me to cause a commotion ever time they are born again I hope they don't think they have to speak unintelligent babble now Cornelius is a gentile this time I'm going to have him speak another language to the Jewish apostles to confirm that indeed salvation is for the gentiles because Peter got that in him and even after I reveal to him that I want gentiles Paul still had to rebuke him years down the line for how he dealt with gentiles so I'm going to have Cornelius speak by the spirit another language which will be a sign to the apostle that I want gentiles and when Peter got back to the apostles they was like yo dude what you doing going over to the gentile crib and telling him about Jesus peter was like yo dude God gave me a vision about eating strange meat that gentiles eat I protested to God that I would never eat gentile foods then God told me a gentile dude seen me in a vision and he was waiting for me so dudes what the hell was I supposed to do when God gave this gentile dude Cornelius a vision hell how many Jews even have visions and then when I got to his crib I didn't even get to finish my stuff about Jesus the dude was already believing before I finished my sermon and he spoke a language I know he didn't know so since God gave him the spirit and the tongue was a sign of that so since God reached out to a gentile what could I do so the apostles shut up God talking behind the scenes but my paraphrase " I don't intend to make a dramatic entrance or have ppl speak in other languages to confirm the spirit those days were the very beginning and it was necessary and practical and functional it was needed in the beginning but as time goes on they will know the don't have to say signs or hear languages nor will I have to make a dramatic entrance they will know they have the spirit on the basis of believing in the all supreme Christ and not because someone babbled something and as they will see in my word there will be less and less of these signs because it's all by faith anyway plus only in the most extraordinary circumstances will I cause a language to be heard in the language the person speaks like a remote tribe but I the day of pentecost served it's purpose I have believers in all languages so so those believers can reach the believers that speak their language no need for me to supernaturally make that happen

Seek out a biblical and traditional church that sticks to the Bible and does not change with the times. You may find a home in the Orthodox Church, the worship is made from the biblical books mostly the Psalms and the Gospels (the whole of salvation history is told in each Eucharist service and the daily cycle of services), change if it happens is glacial. There is a joke the Orthodox tell about ourselves, "how many Orthodox does it take to change a light bulb? None, what is change?" This illustrates not only how we can make fun of ourselves but also the reality of rejecting change to the doctrines of the faith.

Sometimes people do read the Bible and do look for answers in scripture but also look for signs or a word from God about something specific that isn't specifically addressed in Scripture. Should I go to school here or here? Should I buy a house or wait a year? Should I take this job or that job??

Sometimes you don't even realize how its already influenced you, or people around you. Case in point: My brother is a pastor of a small church. They got a bad report that one of their members, who had been sick for awhile, in fact had cancer. When he and his wife were talking about it on the way home she made the comment, "I was afraid he did, but I didn't want to say that, or speak it out..." He had a talk with her about that, showing her that was actually WOF, even New Age thinking?!? That she, as a born-again Christian, didn't want to speak the word, "Cancer", for fear that it might make it so?!?

I do pray for you Melissa. Your knowledge is impressive, and clearly you have a deeper understanding of the so-called "New Age". It is clear that it has left you very hurt, and that Jesus is still working in you to heal you. Just in listening to you talk about the heresies of this movement, I would seem that they have taken the Christian wisdom traditions and spiritual exercises from the monasteries through the work and guidance of the Holy Spirit. They have taken these and stripped them of Christ, perhaps so that they can be fused with ideas and practices stripped from other religions. Nevertheless, "Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater". In a way the so called "Critical Theory", "Intersectionality" and "Woke" movement has taken bits like Matthew 25 and stripped it of Christianity, namely agape love. A decade or so ago, I was in the same state of mind as you appear to be now. Personally I found the Jesuit spiritual exercises to be very useful (Lecto Divino or the Divine Office are also very good, but don't confuse them with bible study, they are bible prayer not bible study, bible study is a separate exercise). These taken with Romans 8:26-27 - I also like Romans 8:28, and used to like Romans 8:29, but not so much after hearing how Calvin butchered it, although read in context it remains very good. So Melissa I pray for you prayer life. That you will find time to allow your-self to be poor in spirit so that The Spirit will come into your heart, to help you your weakness and intercedes for you through wordless groans. So don't just do Vocal prayer but include meditative prayer and contemplative prayer. Good Bless and Love you.

Yea it’s helpful to trace back where the strange teachings came from. I wouldn’t stop at word of faith movement. Keep going back to Martin Luther and even further back to when Catholicism started and you will find Orthodoxy. I would think that serious Christians would want to know about their own history if nothing else but to keep from dangerous teachings such as you have here, but also for what you are missing in the fullness of what God has provided and is still in practice today. This is the treasure hidden in a field where you sell all you have and buy the field so that you don’t miss any of the treasures.

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead he said "thank you Father for hearing me, I know you always hear me but I say this out loud so they may hear me." He was saying he did not raise Lazarus from the dead but the Father did it for him because he did not doubt and it was God's will. Jesus said "the Father is greater than I." Jesus is the word made flesh and we must eat his flesh (word) and drink his blood (Spirit). Jesus said if we did not eat his word and drink his Spirit we would by no means enter the Kingdom.
