Who said Chris Frantz isn't a top drummer? Have you listened to how precise, clean and punchy he plays? And how excellent and articulate are the fills? Yes, he is another brilliant example of a drummer who serves the song (just like Ringo, so to speak...).
@gulagz1549
Жыл бұрын
The only people who say drummers like Frantz and Ringo aren't great are idiots who think a lot of fast notes is a prerequisite to virtuosity... usually people with zero musical background or very young and inexperienced players. It isn't that you can't be great playing fast and busy (see Tony Williams, Keith Carlock, Buddy Rich, Mark Guiliana, Dave Girabaldi to name some of my personal favorites), but that you don't NEED to. There are many types of great drumming.

So you are saying that Ringo is a good drummer because Chris is not highly regarded? This has nothing to do with Ringo. Chris is great. Ever listen to the Tom Tom Club? People just can't accept that their Beatles GOD doesn't have a good drummer. Well they do actually. Paul. You probably hear more Paul drumming than Ringo on their recordings.
@biula3278
Жыл бұрын
@@princeofcupspoc9073 Ahh, not only did Paul die, but now we find out he's the ghost drummer of the Beatles! Nonsense: Ringo's drumming skills are clearly evident live, anyone can see it. So I don't understand why some people still consider Ringo a mediocre musician, he is a drummer in service of the song (just like Chris Frantz).🤣🤣🤣

I lived in Berkeley at the time and saw many bands at Sproul Plaza. Unfortunately, I was just a couple years too young to see or know about this show. I wish I had been there! Years later, however, I did see David Byrne standing in the doorway of a Thai restaurant on Telegraph Ave just down the street. I walked right past him and did a double take before going back to shake his hand and tell him I loved his music. I think he was doing a show in Berkeley at the time for his solo tour.

This is the version of TH I like best. I saw them as a 4 piece in a Toronto club in 78, never having heard their music before. I ended up with quite a few Talking Heads albums over the years. Jerry Harrison was a great addition to the original 3 piece version of the band btw. Played both keys and guitar and fleshed out the audio palette very nicely. I wasn't as crazy about the band when they expanded beyond 4 members.
