It's not the guitar. It's who is playing it. As for me, I like the way Doc plays it. Not too much syrup that you can't enjoy the pancake.

How long have I been listening to bluegrass? I saw David Grier's (then twenty-something!) dad when he was a Blue Grass Boy, playing banjo with Bill Monroe back in the day!

I thought I was a pretty good picker and thought I had heard good pickers. Then Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder's debut bluegrass album, 'Bluegrass Rules!' came out and I was slack jawed at Sutton's picking. "Rawhide" took bluegrass flat-top shredding to a whole new level.
