@TLEE68 the explanation i was given that makes the most sense is that all animal forms and drills were combined to the most effective and basic. they are then taught in order of fundamental to transcendental. so, the first form mimics no animal but it is the fundamentals instead.

My former master, now deceased, told me that it was Wing Chun was a combination of Snake, Crane and a little Tai Chi all rolled up in one based on concept of each style

@TheDano1947 actually I meant Kwun-Sau which means rotating arms found in the beginning of the 3 empty handed forms and in the biu tze form (at least in the Leung Ting system I'm from). My American accent always pronounces it like Kwan so it was just a spelling mistake on my part haha.

this looks a lot like the kwan-sau movement in Wing Tsun. it's interesting to see other styles of kung fu where Wing Tsun was originated

@Wingtsuninpo I think you mean Tan Sau as Kwan means foot as in Tae Kwan Do a Korean style.

@tallahasseeshaolin well alot of people say wing chun was based on fight between a snake and a crane so makes sense.

@tallahasseeshaolin yea, this is very similar to a move we practice in Wing Chun. it finds center and takes position to strike with either or both hands. the 'poi palm' technique often follows this move. videogames copy the poi palm and make it look like a fireball. but what has really happened is that you strike with both hands and launch someone. very excellent video. i will add this to my training regimen... peace!!!

i know everyone is tired of the MMA vs traditional debate and neither side has credible evidence to support but hear me out rather than focus and form we coudn disect it specific concept(ie wing chung sil lim tau theme is to drill centerline to initiates) im not saying we abandon it. im saying since the actuall historic records especially military and inter village Militia guild show tht solo forms were practiced but sparring sensativity drills were more emphasized

@ukguy those analogies are recent infact alot of what we believe about chines martail art is recent and alto is misinformation. i guess the only thing traditional is the movements it self.

@superhumansight Good but might I recommend you replace the Horse stance with the more traditional Goat stance.
