It's perfect for conservationists, zoo professionals, mammologists and people who love Xenarthrans.
Jennifer Stoddard is the Education Supervisor at Reid Park Zoo, where she has worked in Zoo's education department for 18 years.
She is the education advisor for the Tamandua Species Survival Plan (SSP) and the Andean Highland Flamingo Saving Animals from Extinction (SAFE) program through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Jennifer has worked with tamandua for over 15 years training them as ambassador animals and establishing educational messaging for presentations. During her time at the Zoo, she has had the privilege to train 10 pups as ambassador animals, preparing them to be used in education programs at other facilities.
Jennifer’s talk will focus on using tamandua as ambassador animals, discussing the successes and challenges, and balancing SSP recommendations with training and program use. She will also talk about the educational and conservation messaging she and her team have developed for this species, particularly messaging about the pet trade. Her talk will conclude with a discussion amongst the group to share best practices to ensure effective pet trade messaging.
