It's about a dream, the dream of an old man who is soon going to die during Pomare's era forbiding every know as pagan tradition. He chooses to die at the Marae, where he reminds of his wedding, his wife, his family, all present in his mind to accompany him to the next world.
Climbed on stones, facing his mountain, Taupapa is upset, he talks to his land and wishes the coming of the sacred canoe for his last trip.
As an answer, the sweet sound of the Viva'u and a Himene ruau in the far are heard in the valley. The Arioi, who, like Taupapa, fled because of these new rules, appear suddenly from the valley, reassured by the melody, then they busy themselves to restore the Marae for accompanying Taupapa.
Then we see the royal processions, the young Taupapa's one and his young wife's Teura on the paths of the Marae. The Arioi show their respect to these processions and attend, like Taupapa, the ceremony joining princes in marriage under Taupu, the priest's auspices, wedding celebrated by Tapanui's dance.
The wedding is embedded by the sacred cloth covering their both heads end the deposit of the wedding tapa on the Marae altar. Then the feast and the princes' wedding burst out.
But Taupapa's dream ends, the Arioi cover his body with a shroud in Tapa and take him away. At last Taupapa can join his wife Teura in the eternity, and all dead relatives, present to see him on the sacred canoe sailing towards the Rohutu Noanoa sacred paradise.
