So 3rd time this evening I have watched this, for the music as well as inspiration, I have started on mine between breaks from the Kursk GB and the cockpit interior is almost complete :-)

Hey, James....you're addicted mate!! : ) But, seriously, I'm happy that one of my vids helps to inspire someone...this is why we do these, and why we watch other peoples build for the inspiration! I can't wait to see her mate...I'll be looking out for your updates! Have a good weekend, James! : )

Thank you Alistair, much appreciated. I built this kit back in 2014, the year I began modeling, after retiring in the summer of 2013. So, that said, the detail work isn't my best...you might want to check this video out of a Hawker Typhoon that I built in 2017....if you love British WWII aircraft: kzitem.info/news/bejne/yaWiuqewiatyam0 Cheers :)

Thanks for the pointer to the Typhoon Martin. What can I say... absolutely breathtaking. I don't think that I have enough years left to acquire such skills but I will keep trying. Thanks again, you are an inspiration.

Hello Pete, thanks for looking and complementing mate, greatly appreciated! It's my first time using oil-paints for washes and subtle effects and I'm chuffed as a dog with two Di**s at the outcome.....can't wait to do it again, but next time with more confidence I gained from this first attempt!Enjoy the rest of the weekend, what's left!Cheers, Martin.

Thanks Iceman! It's such a well engineered kit with nice details, that those features already place it into a class of its own. Tamiya kits are the best! I tried weathering with oil paints for the first time....it makes such a difference, one can make them as subtle or as harsh as one likes, and, if you overdo it, it can be rubbed off easily. Thanks for watching, greatly appreciated, mate! Cheers, Martin : )

Hey, James....thanks for watching again, but you should watch the newer release that I made of this one week later when I got some video editing software. I wasn't happy with the KZitem editor....it was messing up so I now make the videos on my desktop before uploading to here. Also, that way, I get to have my own master copy! Here's the link to the newer version that I created...it's so much better mate, and you'll love the music! There's two different tracks play during the length of it...the second track that comes in at the right position is pretty cool...here's the link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lKqmp5mFjKB8jG0

Thanks Bob and thanks for taking time out to watch and compliment, greatly appreciated. Using oil paints and mixing and toning my own colors for the first time, I think, made a huge difference to my finishing. It also helps that it's a well engineered Tamiya kit...they have me sold for putting them into my number one choice for kits.Cheers,Martin : )

Cheers, mate...and thanks for watching, much appreciated. My next build is a quickie to fill in while I wait for delivery of another awesome kit, an Hasegawa Hawker Typhoon with the D-Day stripes that I will build for the D-Day Anniversary group builds. This quickie fill in build is another Revell P-51D Mustang that I enjoyed building the first time....video of that build is on here and I modeled her with the "Big Beautiful Doll" colors. The kit is great value, cheap, goes together great with no need for filler and looks pretty reasonable when finished. This time, I'll be modeling her in the second option squadron markings and colors. Cheers, Martin.

Absolutely stunning workmanship sir. I am just at the camouflage stage and would ask if you used the Tamiya decals as supplied and if you have any tips as I understand they are not good to apply compared to the ones that Airfix supply ?
@InternationalBritishModeler

Thank you, greatly appreciated! This was one of my first builds from almost 10 years ago, so my memory is a little lost from back then, although I do remember that the red-line decals on the upper wings, either side of the cockpit, cracked very easily and when placing them onto the model they came apart in places, so, I ended up using a fine red marker pen to produce the red lines where the decal was lost. If your kit is an older production kit from a similar time period, then I'd imagine the decals will behave similarly. One would hope that since then, Tamiya have produced a better more resilient decal for this kit. If you're concerned, then there are lots of after-market decals that you could buy from various suppliers. Here's a link to an online distributor called 1001 hobbies who have a number of different options in 1/48 scale for the FB. Mk.VI Mossie. Good luck! www.1001hobbies.com/decals-for-aircraft/231252-eagle-cal-eag48168-decals-de-havilland-mosquito-fb-mk-vi.html

Roger Young Good luck with your build mate; will you be posting your build on KZitem?Thanks for the kind words....but, I'm sure you'll do a fabulous job. This was only my 7th model that I built since starting in January of this year. After building the first one, I started looking on here to see if there were tips for modeling and discovered there's a whole community of modelers sharing their work and how to do things. So, I watched and learned new things and I'm still learning now. I applied the new skills to each new model and continue to do so, never becoming complacent. When I compare this model to my first, I can see a huge difference in my skills and the quality of the finish. I have to thank all the other modelers for sharing their ideas and their work, for where I am today : )Cheers!
