I really enjoy your builds and see techniques and ideas that I’d like to copy. One question, when you show the various paint pots to mix a custom colour, are you mixing at a 1:1 ratio for each colour?
@mokeipaint
5 ай бұрын
Thank you. The amount of paint mixed varies depending on the color. I mix the colors based on my own sense, so I can't say what percentage each color is. Even one drop of the wrong amount can result in a completely different color. Please refer to the colors painted on the parts in the video.
I thought I dreamed that you had already built the car and I saw your video. You actually built it and I saw it in real life. You are very inspiring. Thank you for that my friend!

Do model kits no longer include details like the engine, transmission, headers/exhausts, etc?

Such things cost money to license for model kit reproduction. Many car companies don't like to sell cheap licensing, so most will cut cost going without such details. Of course the modeler can make his own reproduction but it takes a lot of time and research, like measurements, materials used and such and many prototypes for learning and testing the builds. Nowadays nobody cares about modeling hobby that much, also nobody will pay high price for high quality model done, so even modelers will not spend their year of time to build one car. Those who do, does this because they are super passionate about the model and don't care about time nor materials spend. I hope i answered your question in enough detail.

Love your work and attention to detail. I have a question about what powder are you adding to spray your interior carpet and headliner.Have looked but nothing like this. Thank You.
@mokeipaint

Thank you. The powder I use is a Japanese painting pigment. It is also called natural mineral pigment. You can buy it at an art supply store.

Great modeling skills and patience!But no exhaust system looks like the way its done here!its too much overdone with colors!And especially the rusted details!And why so many people paint screws in silver?They are never silver!MAYBE steel or anodized copper color!Makes the model look unnatural/toylike!Greets from a car mechanic and carmodel builder!

Thank you. I have the same qualifications as you in car maintenance and welding. I judged the color of the exhaust pipe and bolts from many photos of the chassis of new RZ34 cars. The color of the exhaust pipe is not rust, but oxidation color caused by welding. Recent genuine exhaust pipes are stainless steel, so the welded parts have a rust-like color. The bolts around the chassis and exhaust pipe are zinc plated. These bolts do not discolor even when heated. I have various types of actual bolts used in real cars. The bolts used in RZ34 are close to the color of Tamiya flat aluminum. Depending on the car model and manufacturer, electroplating may be used. In that case, I do not use silver.
