I was fortunate to see Tammy Wynette in the 1990's at The Sheffield City Hall when she toured the UK and i was surprised how strong her voice was it had a lot of power. During the last song Tammy walked down the steps from the stage and started to walk towards the audience, she then walked along the rows of people shaking their hands while she sang it was amazing, i had never experienced an artist who did this before and I have always remembered it because it was so personal what she did.

This is one of the greatest Country songs of all time. It was written by two of Nashville's most renowned songwriters, Bobby Braddock and Curly Putman. However, it is the masterful touch of Tammy Wynette, sung as only she can sing it, that has made D-I-V-O-R-C-E one of the most memorable songs of all time. We love you Tammy, but we know you are singing in a far better place.

I have to agree but not completely because it wasn't rockstar that made her. It was her being famous is what made her but, she has an amazing singing talent that made her. Tammy's live singing is just spot on - and so unlike a good many of the "singers" today, who do not sing "live." I came within a few feet of her back in 1987 (I was an airline employee) and she was absolutely beautiful - her pretty blonde hair went down her back to her waist and shined against her shimmering outfit. I was fairly young at the time, and I recall thinking, "This is what a star looks like!" Bless her heart and talents for always!

There’s something just so emotive about Tammy’s voice, the lyrics of this song, my own parents divorce etc… that it hurts just to listen to this song - but I can’t stop myself despite the lump in my throat every single time. .

Tammy seem troubled in this video, imo. But, its no wonder.

This is definitely when country music was great...... no.... awesome. You could see and hear pain in this song.. She was an awesome lady. George was an awesome man.... alcohol just took him down further down a wrong road than he wanted or needed to go. Rip to both of them...

The world lost someone the day she passed on, I wish we still had her around, miss such amazing and unique talents. She always knows how to get the stage, the heart of her audience, and gets everyone going wowed with her voice. I'm grateful I got the privilege to be among those who grew up with such great musics. Every song had a story to tell back then.

She made it through my favorite songwriters with just a hello on stage. I will turn back the years if I had the power. How are you doing, Dee?

I heard this as a kid and than years later to my surprise to hear it in GTAV I was sent back to a lil kid running around the NYC streets (my mother loved Wynette). Now I will remember it as Trevor rockin through sandy shores in his ride
