I am on the journey of connecting with my centre, core, hara or tanden after my sensei briefly told me about it at my last training session. I have been pulling my tail bone under but it has been restricting me from moving forward quickly. He explained I should be connecting with my core as opposed to over emphasising the tucking under of my tail bone. Any videos or comments related to this idea would be greatly appreciated

I have nothing but respect for Sensei Hotton - he appears to be a fantastic instructor and karateka, but who is he? Is he - JKA? ISKF? Some other organization? I'd never heard of him until a week ago, and I am amazed.

I think beginers should first learn how to use their core movement, breathing from core, feeling center an than one day how to move their legs and hands.I learned karate just opposite for five years ,and I learned more just looking at this video than for all this five years hard work.

I invite anyone to add to or correct what I am saying. My understanding is that the tanden is a place and kime is a moment or action. Tanden is the human center of gravity (about 2 inches below the bellybutton). Kime is the instant of focus (or, literally, of decision). The way the two things interact with each other is this: At the moment of kime, you seek to connect your body weapon to the tanden by instantainously tightening (and then re-relaxing) the necessary muscles to make that connection.

Son 2 cosas diferentes... Tándem es la contracción y expansión rotatoria interna de la cadera y kime es la fuerza q se ocupa para sacar el golpe o patada o defensas... Espero te sirva la respuesta saludos!!!!
