The text:
1 - 寵辱若驚 - Favor and disgrace make one fearful
2 - 貴大患若身 - The greatest misfortune is the self
3 - 何謂寵辱若驚 - What does "favor and disgrace make one fearful" mean?
4 - 寵為上 辱為下 - Favor is high; disgrace is low
5 - 得之若驚 - Having it makes one fearful
6 - 失之若驚 - Losing it makes one fearful
7 - 是謂寵辱若驚 - This is "favor and disgrace make one fearful"
8 - 何謂貴大患若身 - What does "the greatest misfortune is the self" mean?
9 - 吾所以有大患者 - The reason I have great misfortune
10 - 為吾有身 - Is that I have the self
11 - 及吾無身 - If I have no self
12 - 吾有何患 - What misfortune do I have?
13 - 故貴以身為天下 - So one who values the self as the world
14 - 若可寄天下 - Can be given the world
15 - 愛以身為天下 - One who loves the self as the world
16 - 若可託天下 - Can be entrusted with the world
