@thewanderer2847
Жыл бұрын
why would techs talk about it, that's all the engineers man lmao, i own myself it's not like i know the magic fix, it really comes down to not driving your car enough between trips, example 5 minute drives every day or lots of shopping turning the car on and off a lot, unburnt fuel leaks down and ends up in the oil if the vehicle isn't reaching optimal temps for a sustained period of time, honda put out a tsb years ago for it on the earth dreams motors.
@darren6676

@TheWanderer no kidding.. I know all there is to about GDI engines. It's the fact you visit a Honda Dealer and the tech tries to tell you its not a big deal and not to worry. Honda messed up, they won't admit to it.. china literally stopped selling the CRVs because of this issue. I had my oil tested and the % of gasoline was waaaay to much. Dealer offerd me a free oil change .... I lnow why it's an issue I just can't believe Honda still sells this crap to the public.

I stripped the head off of an oil pan bolt because it was so tight - Costco did the previous oil change so I took it back to them and told them to get the plug out and push the car into the lot so I could finish the oil change. They got the plug out and made me retighten the new pan plug because they didn’t want to be liable if it leaked - I said sure and went out, he handed me a wrench that was over a foot long. The guy in the next bay was a huge guy with a similar wrench and I watched him hold the wrench by the very end and lean right into tightening the plug as if he were tightening a wheel lug. It’s no wonder the strip out oil pan plugs.

A time sert is a more permanent fix, same end threads as original and same plug. An oversized plug is more of a momentary quick fix. Larger threads, larger bolt. @TEVIDEOS
10 ай бұрын
If I pull the pan, I might as well replace it. I've done this probably 100 times. No issues. All metal flows out with the old oil. You can literally watch it in the video. This is an alternative option to replacing the pan. Some Honda pans pay 3 hours labor to remove ($600). I can time sert it on the vehicle instead for 1 hour labor ($200) and it's a permanent fix.. If I were to remove the pan just to install a time sert it would cost $800.. At that point you might as well put that $200 towards a new pan. $600 dollars is a huge difference for the same result. Time sert in the vehicle is fine. Never had an issue getting the metal out. Never had a comeback from a time-sert I did and I definitely haven't blown up someone's engine 😄
