Hello everyone! Today, I’m excited to share my special Hesarukalu Rice Bath recipe, also known as Moong Pulav. Follow these steps for a delicious and flavorful dish made in a pressure cooker. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more authentic recipes!
Ingredients:
Moong dal (hesarukalu) - 1 cup
Rice - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 tablespoon
Green cardamom - 3
Cinnamon - 2 inches
Cloves - 4
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
Onions - 2, sliced
Tomatoes - 2, chopped
Coriander leaves - ½ bunch, chopped
Mint leaves - ½ bunch, chopped
Salt - to taste
Biryani masala - 1 teaspoon
Water - 3 cups
Preparation:
Wash and soak 1 cup of moong dal and 1 cup of rice separately for 20 minutes.
Drain the water and keep aside.
Cooking the Spices:
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add 3 green cardamoms, 2 inches of cinnamon, and 4 cloves. Sauté until aromatic.
Sautéing the Base:
Add 1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
Add 2 sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add 2 chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and the oil starts to separate.
Adding the Greens:
Add ½ bunch of chopped coriander leaves and ½ bunch of chopped mint leaves. Sauté for a minute.
Mixing the Dal and Rice:
Add the soaked and drained moong dal and rice to the pressure cooker. Mix well with the masala base.
Add salt to taste and 1 teaspoon of biryani masala. Mix thoroughly.
Cooking:
Add 3 cups of water to the mixture and stir well.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on medium heat for 2 whistles.
Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
Serving:
Once the pressure has released, open the lid and gently fluff the rice with a fork.
Serve hot with raita or any side dish of your choice.
Tips for Perfect Moong Pulav:
Soaking the moong dal and rice ensures even cooking and a soft texture.
Sautéing the spices and onions until golden brown enhances the flavor of the pulav.
Letting the pressure release naturally helps in maintaining the texture of the rice and dal.
