I still need to dive in and get familiar with Target Planner. It could certainly increase the efficiency of my clear nights. Especially when I eventually have a home observatory built!

I forget are you already using Target Scheduler?

@AstroVagabond I have it installed, but have not taken the time to get familiar with it as of yet. I've just been using the Sky Atlas in NINA, and sometimes Stellarium to help pick targets to image.

Understood, I'd be happy to do a one-to-one with you to share my knowledge should you decide to explore Target Scheduler. Just let me know. ~ Bill

That was great, thanks! Question please, how safe is your contribution app, I am very suspicious about online payments if not double verified.. Thanks for reply

Not sure so no worries it's the thought and taking time to drop a comment that really matters to me.

M101 for edge8” and 533 sensor, which you probably use, is too big. Sensor could be big or FL shorter.

You think so? With my 0.7X reducer it looks like it is contained just fine in the fame. telescopius.com/deep-sky-objects/m-101/pinwheel-galaxy/spiral-galaxy/galaxy/h2-galaxy

@@AstroVagabond I know it. There are dim outer structures that are not shown during framing. Second, and more important, composition is vital in photography. 1/3 rule is also applied to astrophotography. I think Galaxy should occupy 1/2-1/3 of picture to be attractive. You will not fit m101 this way, if your setting is used.

I never believed in the 1/3 (rule of thirds) rule in photography. 😉 I accept you are right about the outer dust. I'm happy with the 533 for now until I remove the reducer. Then I'll use a 294MM pro in bin2 to get the 4.63 micron pixel size. There are many things I could do differently but if I focused on those things all the time it would make me unhappy. I prefer to accept what I have for now and be happy that I'm able to do this hobby at all. 👍

@@AstroVagabond 533 is a superb camera. It is all about targets. You will prefer to use 533 and no reducer on edge8 for many planetary nebulae. For example, cat’s eye nebula. Tried it?

I've not yet tried it but do look forward to giving it a go. Thanks!
