It's an elitist sport for sure. Although personally I see where you're coming from, only you know if you're still going to have fun and achieve your goals on a less expensive build. If it takes full carbon and electronic everything for you to be happy... well that's on you.
@jaspreetsidhu5708

@@paul_hd1875 really great way to look at it. Raced on electronic shifting, expensive carbon bikes, ultra light and fast. My experience mechanical shifts beautiful. Every click provides such nice feedback (electronic won't give that same feeling). Mid range bikes (ultegra spec), with a really nice set of wheels in my experience is the best bang for your dollar and just as quick.

@@norcalchrismeister Honestly it depends on what you're looking for, strictly road, gravel, (maybe even mountain). I'd say go to some shops try different bikes/sizes see what works best for you. Also look at what you'll use if for my carbon bikes get babied, my aluminum/steel bikes get beat down from bikepacking and gravel riding. Scott overall makes great bikes for reasonable prices, specialized (expect to pay 20-30% more), cervelo has horrible warranty support, canyon is good overall (but haven't dealt with them personally).

@@jaspreetsidhu5708 Thanks for the info. I have a Domane SL5 which is great for long endurance rides but I also want a lightweight climbing bike. It's funny you mention Scott because I'm seriously considering their Addict RC 30 bike. Another bike I'm considering is the Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1 Disc but most of my local dealers are sold out. The Cervelos look nice, but if they have horrible support, I'll stay far away from them lol.

As soon as other weekend warriors have the money, I think the SL7 will be a massive seller for the brand. All the initial reviews look very good. Next up: The Chinese copy brands already have the moulds ready to go for their SL7 versions lol

Pol: I was merely sharing a.choice, not bragging. Why should you opine over someone else’s choice and then sarcastically laugh just because an inferior copy might later be made by the Chinese (as usual, since they don’t have the technology to create something as this on their own). Sounds like you have a brake dilemma, so here are the pros and cons for each brake type: Rim brake Pros: Lighter, cheaper, easier to work on and maintain Cons: More expensive consumables (brake pads + rims), not as powerful and modulating as disc brakes (depending on what wheelset and brake pads you're using, carbon braking surfaces generally fare worse than aluminium ones), heavier rims (reinforcement is needed to take on the heat from braking) Disc brake (most are hydraulic) Pros: More powerful, better modulation, cheaper consumables (brake pads + brake discs + hydraulic fluid), lighter rims (since nothing is rubbing on them now) Cons: Increased maintenance complexity (ex. brake bleeding), more expensive, heavier Since you said you live in a flat region, I think you'll be fine with rim brakes.

How did they not know that the Tarmac sl6 was perfect in a sprint when Sagan took a world championship jersey in a all out drag race sprint with Alexander...Secondly the customers (I was one of them) of specialized always will be in the Gaza Strip between Trek and Themselves for the no1 USA brand bike manufacturer it’s sad because they just making the sport more unattainable for any young talent due to the house mortgage price they give these bikes...but hey who am I?
