Yes! Exactly what I needed. I love using my tarot cards, but I've been getting so overwhelmed with advice that I haven't even had time to act on yet, so I haven't touched them in a while and it makes me sad. These techniques are great for using the cards to just think deeply about things without having to hold all kinds of advice and to-do's. Thanks so much! :D

@@kelly-annmaddoxgrew up Mormon and I’m trying to think of how journaling was messaged to me. I will say that journaling was always encouraged, but it seemed like a place for you to validate and reinforce the spoonfed ideas about what to believe and how to be, and how to feel relating to both spirituality and practical living. for example, a young woman who was working through the church curriculum might get an assignment to read these certain scripture passages and then journal about how those scriptures supported a specific idea of what was right or what a woman should strive to become. Mormons are also obsessed with the recordkeeping. genealogy and member records things like that. So members are encouraged to keep a journal as a record of their life. But the things that are valued in Mormonism would be the same things. would be valued in a record of someone’s life. So , you might be keeping a journal so that you are posterity can look back and yes learn about your life and what it was like, but most especially learn about your testimony of the gospel and how faithful you were as a member of the church and as a Mormon person. How you fulfilled your role as a faithful Mormon so perfectly. it wouldn’t be something to be proud of to go into someone’s journal and have a bunch of lusty ruminations or spiritual doubts and wrestling. You would want to read how your grandparent was so faithful for example. My grandmother was a generation that was told specifically by the Mormon prophet at the time that something that a faithful Mormon or Mormon woman did was to write in their journal every day, so my grandmother filled dozens of notebooks with daily entries from her life. With all the writing, you would think that there would be something interesting to say, but there was never anything interesting written. Weather, precipitation, the comings and goings of family life, how many loaves of bread were baked or laundry loads done. But never very rarely there anything sentimental. Maybe that was just her personality but it was certainly interesting. Maybe that’s all she had left in terms of energy because she did have 10 children. I remember doing this as a young child when she was still alive and all of her kids were grown so presumably she would’ve had more time to ruminate or explore ideas if she wanted to. There’s another author who wrote a book about her Mormon upbringing, and the inspiration for the book was how her mother kept dozens of journals in a cabinet, and she said never to look in them until after she had died. I bet this woman was the same age as my grandma so someone who showed up been keeping journals lol… Anyway After the mom died the daughter finally goes to read the journals and they are all blank. And this just blew her mind and inspired her own book relating to women’s voices and experiences in the Mormon church. I think it’s a pretty abstract book not a memoir. It’s very artistic. I can’t remember the title, but I can grab it if you want.

This is a video I think I will be coming back to repeatedly. I do a lot of note-taking for study purposes, but I struggle with exploratory and creative journaling. I've had a major creative block for getting words on paper for a while. A favorite activity of mine is to flip through a pair of decks while in an altered state of mind before bed and see what comes up. This could be a great opportunity to use these techniques and get more out of the activity.

This was again a fantastic episode (like always). So many tips, thank you 😊 Personally I have 2 personal tarot journals. I have a study journal for just getting a general feel with a deck. This one is handwritten, in general. Unless I feel like typing, then I just print it and just add it in my journal. Then I have another one, with readings I do for myself and what I learn from it. That one is digital, because I love being able to insert pictures of my readings and printing them costs a lot on ink, but I do love writing as well. I love the spread idea you mentioned too. I will try it out 😊 I love also using past-present-future, in combination with a card for what the client is conscious about or what is on the subconscious. Or the element spread. And the Celtic cross or variations of it. There are so many possibilities in journaling, we just need to let the creativity flow or sometimes get ideas from others and mix them up with what I like. I just do what I feel like doing. One of your rebel witch followers you could say haha also in my craft. I don’t like following “what’s normal and standard”

Thank you for this video!! Like others have said, I too want a couple days between readings to actually put the messages into action or just reflect a little more. I don’t want “advice” every day. But I love to journal and I’m in a journaling rut. This combines two of my favorite things in a way that is much more interesting than just doing “learn the tarot” journaling prompts. I like those too but you gave a lot of different paths to take. Thank you!

I recently over the last couple days began writing my spiritual journal, in a really old looking handmade book with a lock, fabric-ey paper inside and a pentacle on the front that I've had on display for years just because I like dark stuff. It's been really helpful and cathartic writing in there, detailed my underlying connections and lack thereof with anything spiritual through my life up until the epiphany. Tarot I've not looked too deeply into yet, though I'm 100% open to it and ready to explore! I'm sure this video will come in handy just as all of your videos have been for me. I'm so glad I have your perspectives on things really helping me unlock my mind and think in new ways, without them I don't know if I would have reached the point I am now. Also I've never in my life supported a KZitemr on Patreon or become a member of anything but you're seriously tempting me.😅Perhaps one of these days.

Love the video! Just a note: when you mention automatic writing I think you mean "free writing" as automatic writing is channeling spirits who move your hand without your awareness of what you are writing.

I'm pretty sure the Dadaists who invented automatic writing did not think they were channeling spirits. They were unleashing their subconscious.

Lovely video, really enjoyed it. I find my cards and my journal almost inseparable and very rarely use one without the other being involved. They compliment and bring out all the best things about each other for me! Love all of the techniques you mentioned, free association being one of my all time favourite jumping off points. I am definitely going to try some of your finish the sentence ideas, you've offered some really interesting ones!

Quick question, if you have a minute! Do you have any resources or thoughts about cord cutting between two other people - so not including yourself? I had someone recently request that I do a cord cutting between them and their abusive ex partner, but I've really never heard of it being done like that, where the cord is being cut by an outsider to that relationship. Appreciate any help or insight! Thank you for everything that you do!
