I totally agree with what you said about pip decks. I originally purchased a deck I loved based on the artwork on the packaging and when I got home I found out it was a pip deck. I tried to work with that deck for about a week or two but was getting nowhere and put tarot away for awhile. About a year later I picked up my first RWS deck and since then have been reading with it and other RWS clones. Now 10 years later I find that my original pip deck actually speaks to me and I can understand it.

Great advice. I think I have a deck hoarding issue, but it's partially because I'm searching for THE deck that just feels like a fit for me (and there are so many with art that draws me). I really appreciate your 'permission' to not work with decks that you don't like. I have tried so many times to get into the traditional RWS deck because it's the foundation, so I felt like I HAD to use it to understand the symbolism, but I just don't find it works for me in readings at all. Do you have a video or blog post about connecting with a deck and what may indicate that you are or aren't connecting aside from just how you feel? For example, when I use the RWS deck for a reading, the reading doesn't seem to be very deep. It sort of feels resistant to giving me much to work with almost. I'm a very intuitive type reader too, and I just can't see the connections or relation between cards. When I work with the Wild Unknown I immediately see it more as a whole story and my flow is better, but it feels like I'm not getting much detailed information in each individual card.

Love these vids. I agree with the pip decks. I would say build your foundation with fully illustrated decks first.

I loved the comment about not using decks that you don’t like. I just cannot jump on the Wild Unknown bandwagon. I know it’s so popular, but I personally just can’t connect with it at all!

Oh you wait til the 5th video to tell me not to buy too many decks (lol, it wouldn’t have mattered). I’m enjoying the journey. So far my favorite decks are Light Seers (never would have believed it), Witches Tarot , Gilded Royal Tarot, and Grand Luxe Tarot.

I bought both your e-books on spreads and have to say that I find them to be very helpful in teaching me. The only thing I find missing is the question you ask for each spread. Is there anyway you could provide these so the wording is right before you lay the cards out? My pet peeve with readers are the ones that scare people into booking another session by the way they look, say something or make a verbal noise then tell the client that their time is up so they have to book another reading to find out what is "bad". I have to step in even if I get tossed from a fair or convention when I see this being done! It sets a bad experience for the client and all readers out there. If your client is upset, then it is your responsibility to pull more cards free of charge or explain the ones out there better so that the client leaves feeling good about their reading even if the tower or the death card came out. You don't tell people that their house is going up in flames, or their favorite relative is about to drop dead any second and then say your time is up now go away or pay! You explain that maybe you should be careful with flammables or leaving electric appliances left plugged in while you are away because it "might" cause a fire. That the death card simply means the end of something and the beginning of something else. I refuse and will continue to refuse the question of is so-and-so going to die so you had better make peace with them? I feel it is not my place to say this, it's God's or whatever deity you believe in to handle that. I even program my cards when I get a new deck that they are not to speak of the death of any living thing, that the death card is simply the ending of something and the beginning of something and not actual death of any living thing. And yes, I have been given great grief over this in the Tarot community because they say that I am not giving the client all the information I can if I do this. But I tell people who ask me to do a reading this well before I pull the first card! So is it wrong not to read the death card as death? Cause if so, then I don't want to do this anymore!

I don't know, if my best friend's ferret was able to succeed & comprehensively communicate to me about tarot I would be very inclined to listen (& be super excited by my new super power 😂😍) Great advice all the way through, thank you ❤️

I recently started learning tarot and sad to say, I broke number 4 LOL, there are so many decks, both tarot and oracle that I absolutely LOVE and just in the last 2 weeks have gotten myself about 5 or 6 new decks....OOPS lol

Thank you so much for this video!!!!! The only deck I have is The Marseille Camoin-Jodorowsky and while I'm grateful and like it, I don't connect with it most of the time. The reason for it is because I have a hard time to learn the cards, especially the minor arcana. Even though there are many symbols within the cards, I just can't read their attitude. I will learn and connect with them in the future, but for now I'm looking for a new deck that would help me. Wish I knew beforehand that I should have avoided a pip deck.

Thank you for the video. I was worried at first if you were going to point out something I've been doing wrong, but this has been a big boost in my confidence and desire to learn more. I've been having a lot of fun so far. Deck hoarding, ughh, speaks to me. I'm personally a collector of other things, so hoarding is def something I want to stay away from. I currently have 3 lovely decks. And about to purchase another one. It is so spunky, I feel like I would have a lot of interesting reads with it.

Not really on topic but I’ve watched a few of your videos so far and I’d like to thank you for just being real, not being like those fake KZitem personalities where you can so obviously and clearly see how fake they’re being. So thank you for just being you.

I started on the Tarot of a moon garden, i love it, but many people say its a pip deck, i dont feel that way. Now i have Revalations Tarot, and i love it. It seems to remind me of the moon garden deck. I feel like the reversed pictures are brilliant. I even edged it in purple dry-erase marker!!! I love the Alchemical Tarot Renewed, its very powerful. I also like the art by Nigel Suckling in Dragon Tarot, that deck is very strong too.

I have to say that I am really glad that you took the time to help beginner Tarot readers with their business. This may sound weird but I have been looking at different Tarot coaches and online mentorships but I feel really drawn to you. I have watched all of your How to start a Tarot Business parts and I feel that I can learn from you. I am a veteran teacher and I am a professional student as they say: I love to learn. I have been giving free readings to friends and family on and off for about 5 years but I do not have any formal coaching or training. But I am going to change that. I use Tarot cards and my pendulum for most of my divination. And because I am a life -long learner I want to learn many divination tools (Runes, using Dodecahedrons or D20s in the gaming world. I have not worked with Oracle decks but I have been watching readings with them and building a list of Tarot and Oracle decks that I am drawn to (by the illustrations and the over-all feeling I get when I see the illustrations.) Thank you again for these and other videos. I look forward to watching more. I will be joining your coaching/mentorship programs soon. Also, I am glad you mentioned using a name other than your original. I have a witch name that I will be using. Blessed be in Love and Light. Well met.

I know this may seem like such a dumb question but being new to tarot, I have been wondering about shuffling your deck. Is there a right way or wrong way? I always wonder if it matter if they upside down or not? Cause I keep wanting to keep my deck up right. Again I’m just wondering?
@Ethony

I don't feel as though there are any right or wrong ways. The upside down card thing, depends on if you read reversals or not.
