Some great thoughts and worth watching. The mic pad is present in the gain knob - if you look you'll see that unity is set to about 11 o'clock, so just turn the gain knob down which acts as a pad. Maybe not perfect but I think that's the way it's meant to be used. As for copying a track (and this REALLY should have been possible in the menu) is to send the track you wish to copy to the Sub bus and then use a patch lead to go from the Sub output to the input of your desired track number and then just record it. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion.. I think technically, the pad is for line level devices and not mic. Line levels go from -10 to +40 (outer circle) Mic levels are from 0 to +50 (inner circle). As far as the copy re-record work around, I haven't tried going out the Sub bus, but I have tried going out AUX1 and back in and there is a slight delay between the original track and the new track. Enough for me to notice. I think this is due to it going thru an additional DA and AD conversion, which adds a few ms of latency.

Issue #2: Simply remove the SD card and the M12 uses auto-detect and matches the PC sample rate. In DAW mode, audio should only be playing through CH 1/2 (mode switch to PC), all other channels should not have any audio, even if you set the mode switches to PC. Wish list: Invert phase after recording: Yes, this could be done via a firmware upgrade. Inserts are part of the analog circuits and won't be possible. MIDI start/stop could be possible via a firmware upgrade, but tempo change means audio time-stretch and this is a CPU intensive process and may not be possible, so TASCAM leaves this out. Track takes/layers would be nice and could be possible via FW upgrade, so you can select any of the previously recorded takes for that track and choose the best one. input level PAD is part of the gain knob. Below U (about 11:00), it reduces the gain of the incoming signal. Not the best option for a PAD since the knobs are log scale and a small change in current state adds a big gain change. I prefer a PAD button. The current single FX has very limited features, I mean you can't even control the delay feedback amount. Mixed FX like hall reverb and delay, can't control the balance. Let alone a second FX module lol. Sadly, most of these "nice to have" features will never make it into the old Model 12. I mean, why would TASCAM spend all the time and money, when they can maybe come up with Model 1200 and sell new units. P.S. Nice channel. :)

The good thing about it is that the tracks are not affected by the mixing so we can have a quick mix and still get clean stems we can mix properly in the computer.

Yes. That's also what I like about the M12. Thanks for watching. Hopefully, I didn't ramble on too much.
