Yuri Petrovich Barsky (June 3, 1917, Petrograd, Russian Empire - October 3, 2006, St. Petersburg, Russia) was a Soviet draughts and chess figure. Master of Sports of the USSR. Honored Coach of the USSR (1967). A front-line soldier. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star (1945), the Order of the Patriotic War, I degree (1985). He survived 2 clinical deaths.
He was fond of checkers since childhood and devoted his life to them after recovering from wounds. For a quarter of a century, he worked as a coach in the Leningrad branch of the Spartak sports association; coach of the USSR champion and world champion in stokelet draughts Iser Kuperman.
