And if there's no way to prove it, it would just be subjective judgement which is literally what they had in the show. Nothing changes.

@@fsociety6983 what changes is the presence of an opposing argument. They had the “he stepped on the red so he’s out” side, but nobody even proposed the opposing stance that he didn’t.

Spoiler for the potato throw: . . . I may be misremembering, but I think it was later revealed that that wasn't actually Joe's first try and that he did indeed try it out several times and just asked Alex, the supervisor, to only show the successful try. I forget where this is mentioned but I believe I heard it directly from somebody on the show. This is an epic moment and I am only adding more twists/layers to it.

With the candle, I still can't believe that no one got the candle from the caravan and brought it to the lab.

For a call that goes a long time... how about calling a line that's open from 9 - 5 ... somewhere in the world where it's 7 pm.... and just be on hold for 12 hours.

Growing up in the US we had a TV show called Wide World of Sports. The show began with a montage of clips of various sports with the voiceover of: Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sports: The thrill of victory And the agony of defeat The human drama of athletic competition This is ABC's Wide World of Sports. Each line was accompanied by a short video clip. The line, "And the agony of defeat" showed a ski jumper speeding down the ramp at high speed, losing control, and tumbling down the ramp and over the edge of the jump. To an entire generation of Americans, this man was the embodiment of the agony of defeat. I felt so bad for the poor skier. I can't recall any televised failed attempt that was quite as heartwrenching....until Joe's potato toss.
