Hi Paul. I’m just finishing up tea tied up at a beautiful little anchorage known as Gravelly Beach. I arrived here a bit damp and exhausted after Motoring for 11 nautical miles from Launceston. I was punching into steep chop most of the way as the wind worked against the outgoing tide. It blew 15 - 25 knots right on the nose most of the way. Still amazed to have average 6 knots with a big tide assist. Pity I’m enjoying it on my own. We need a group like yours here. Cheers Chris.

That is one very special location. Not a winter destination but looking forward to doing more down there this summer.

You are speaking the truth, sailing is the happy place. It's like therapy. But without the needless talking.

Been following since Moonlight, glad to see you're getting more time out on the water. I have been fascinated by Coles Bay since reading Patsy Adam Smith as a young fellow. It is a beautiful place and I hope to see more through your videos. What an excellent vessel to explore that coastline.

She’s a lovely boat to camp in. And what better place than Freycinet. As I get older I appreciate the creature comforts. This is a healing time now after a lot of health and financial struggles. It’s not behind me, and it will be a tough journey to the finish line but I intend making the most of what I have and what a blessing it is to have ended up with Sarah Ann. 2 years of Reno’s now behind me. Great to hear from you Chris. Keep in touch! Cheers Chris

Hi Chris, Great seeing more videos, two in one week. If I was you a would make or buy a box the put the anchor and chain and line in so as it will not move around the inside of the boat and this will stop it making any makes inside your boat.

Ah, the battle of the anchor vs. the boat interior! I'll make sure to find a solution to keep them from Nuking it out. Thanks for the suggestion! It has a couple of compartments built in. One I store the chain in the other the anchor and Rode but they are well forward of the hatch. Deck storage will help while I have it out

I am 70 as a kid my family would regularly go to coles bay dad and I climbed to the top of Mt amoase ( spelling ) over looking wine glass day , you aren’t allowed to do that any more the view from the saddle just isn’t the same . Andy joy and uncle Dan owned the shop/post offices/ servo . Mum would take over the shop and let her sister and husband get away for a week , the shop was a full time almost around the clock deal thanks to having the main phone ( shared local line or trunk calls) . As for fishing the sweatest fish in the Ocean was and still is abundant there , every one throughs them back , lether jacket ( trigger fish) , in those days just to the north of the horrid little boat ramp was a shell of a large plank boat she was so open you could look straight threw her . Last time I visited she was gone . Anyway great show, thanks PS I live on 8 Akers near Wivenhoe lake , thinking of moving to tin can bay and I’m on the hunt for a TS , cheers

I first visited Coles Bay when I was a kid, around out the era you are talking about. I remember in my teens, waiting for the Aspley river to go down before we could cross - gravel all the way, including the lake leake highway. So many great memories and character forming experiences down there. I spent 13 years on the sunshine Coast before returning to Tasmania. I love tin Can Bay and the Sandy Strait and had many sailing adventures up there. But Tassie is very hard to beat, especially with the Hard summers you've had up that way of late.
