From my experience, if the grip is too much on the tennis forehand style the bandeja sometimes comes with topspin (too low preparation probably part of the problem) and it limits your other overheads also. Groundstrokes and volleys are hittable. Personally I play with continental, and for some shots I switch to more tennis backhand grip (vibora, kick-smash, rulo for example) to give more mobility to wrist to brush the ball. But I pretty much never go to forehand grip.

Hurrah! I have very much a tennis grip for forehand and change it when at net and for overheads. It stresses me to have a continental grip for every shot. Work with what you've got I say 🤣

There are coaches and players that are shallow and don't have enough experience or an open mind to understand that that every player is unique. Then it's hard for them to get that there are multiple ways to succeed in Padel and the important is the result and your global level as a player. In my opinion, suggest a modification in the grip is only needed when they can't achieve a shot even when doing a right body movement in a right position... then it's time to see if a new grip may be the reason to succeed!

...this is a great point... imagine any coach that is online and bash about the grip insisting to use the one Rafa's uses for instance....😅than would go to another top champ and say ''hey your grip is not quite right'' 😅 top champ reply ''seriously mate, i became a champ with my Comfortable grip and i change in such way for the shots to be at my best''😅...sadly are many mediocre coaches there for tennis and padel trying to'' copy -paste'' what pros or by the bs books or courses are doing but mentally as coach aren't flexible to be creative and creative around the clients abilities and capacity to develop those skills. I have met many mediocre coaches on both sports and brag about cos they knew ''someone'' in that academy or posh clubs to get their foot in or kissed those arses till got in and create a profile that is nowhere near truth...and people are still paying for these muppets sessions to waste time, money, and not even getting the core of that sport psychology. It's not being negative, it's about being aware how to choose a goid coach that is capanle to accomodate your ongoing progression so you enjoy the sport to max.

Hey, about the grip, I see alot of players having their index finger quite above the rest of the fingers just like you have in this video, is there a reason for this? Also are you the guy who was in the padeltrainer videos with Dani Dios? I hope it wasn't Dani that made you repeat your backhand forever haha.

The index finger is for more stability and comfort. I was one of the owners of Padel Trainer and yes, I am the guy in the videos 😊. Have a productive day and keep enjoying padel.

I play with eastern forehand grip and change my grip on the backhand as my previous experience is a tennis player with single handed backhand but my coach keeps insisting on continental grip. Thats why i stopped taking lessons with him. I can hit every shot in the book with consistency then why should i change .

I agree with you and you should be coached by someone you connect with … a coach is someone that finds ways to get the best out of you… a good coach makes you your best version!!! ❤❤❤❤
