Ingredients
Beetroot - 1 nos
Rice flour - 2 cup
Shallots - 5 to 6 nos
Curry leaves - 2 to 3 sprigs
Dry red chilli - 3 to 4 nos
Mustard seed - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 2 to 3 tbsp
Salt - 1 or 2 tsp
Method
Today we have to prepare Beetroot rice flour dumplings.
Firstly, we have to peel the beetroot and set it aside.
Then cut it into medium-sized pieces.
Take a pan, add rice flour and salt and mix them well.
Then add the grinded paste of beetroot and mix them well with your hands.
Then we have to take small, lemon sized pieces of dough and roll them one by one.
Heat water in an idli steamer and place a idli mould.
Again, place a banana sheet on top.
Then keep the beetroot rice flour dumplings on the steamer.
Then cover with a lid and cook for 10 to 12 minutes.
After cooking the rice flour dumplings, take the dumplings and keep them aside.
Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seed and let them crackle.
Then add urad dal and red chilli powder.
Saute them well for a few minutes.
Then add the shallots and saute and fry them well.
Then add curry leaves and sauté them well.
Then add grated coconut and saute and fry them well.
Add the beetroot dumplings and mix them well.
Cook for a few minutes.
Remove from the fire and set aside.
Serve and enjoy the tasty beetroot rice dumplings with tea or coffee.
