Omg, yes! Parents are always thinking that teens have no clue what they're talking about. Always saying that we can't feel a certain way about things that happen in our lives, because we haven't been through what they've been through... Honestly, I get where they're coming from, but they need to know where we're coming from. I love my parents with all my heart. I'm adopted, but they've been more of a parent to me than anyone else ever has, but they don't completely understand it all still. Things happen and parents putting teens in a bubble and not letting them do anything isn't going to help them, it does more damage than good. And for any parent who reads this, if you're like this, don't think you're child's rebellion is out of hatred towards you, it's not... I love my parents with ALL my heart, but sometimes parents need to ease up a bit. I know you don't want your child to make the same mistakes as you, but you can't control that. They may not make them when you're around but when they leave or go out into the real world when they're no longer under your protection, they are more likely to make the same mistakes or worse. I just want you all to know parents do their best, and it may not always seem like it. I'm 16 years old, and through the foster system, I've been through more than a lot of people ever have or ever will go through... My parents really try, and I am SO thankful for them, I got really lucky with the ones I got! I get that they need to ease up a bit, and any other teen that reads this may agree with this, but trust me, they try and it's hard sometimes. Go easy on your parents and try to understand where they're coming from, and if you feel like you're not being heard then talk to them. Sorry if this offended anybody, that was not my intention.

Hey THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS, actually i was having a drawing project for teens problem and found ur comments while listening to this video the words that ur describe as parents putting teens inside a bubble gives inspiration for me thank you so much and also i agree with u parents often thinking that we don't understand many things in this world because we just have a puberty and we just new in facing the reality world well actually the facts they are our main reason why we understand hard reality so quick

@@rhyleeblack1839 And, honestly, the thing is when you're trapped inside a bubble you tend to go crazier when you're free. See, as a teen, most people are out experiencing things in the world so when they are an adult certain things are no longer of interest, but when you don't get to experience things as a teen, when you're on your own you're going to want to do EVERYTHING. That isn't good for a kid, either.

@Cara Scott. I was adopted to my family at the age of 8, and moved in with them when I was 7 and I’m 15 now and it can be hard to tell them what is happening with me sometimes! I went through a lot when I was younger, my birth dad was put in jail when I was still a baby, my birth mom smoked and drank a lot and was always angry for some reason so there were constantly holes in the wall in her bedroom cause she would just punch the walls and it was really scary, and we were constantly moving due to being poor and the houses just kept getting smaller and smaller. I was the only girl with four brothers and then my mom got a “boyfriend” and he and my birth mom constantly fought and screamed at each other and were physically hurting each other and he sexually abused me at the age of 3!!! AGE OF 3!! One day I went to my grandmas house and told my aunt what was happening at home and so we went to the police station and they asked me some questions about my home situation and they had a family that night to pick me up! I never got to say goodbye to my mom, my brothers, but especially my twin brother. I went through 5 families in just 4 years and now today I’ve been adopted to a wonderful and caring family! my twins and little brother were put into foster care as well, today I live with my annoying little brother but my twin lives just an hour away! So I can still see him about 2 times every 7-9 months! Which isn’t enough and we have grown SO much closer because we don’t see each other that much but I miss him every second he’s not with me 🥺 he’s my twin, we are like one person, he’s my best friend in the whole world and makes me the happiest person in the world when I can spend even just a couple days with him! Anyways sorry for the long adoption story, there is so much more I could say but it’s already long 😂

Why's it always the child's fault? Parents:Your crazy! Your only young you don't even know the meaning of depression or stressed out is. Stop overreacting! Your just being a moody teenager! Who knew parents could be so dumb.. why don't hey understand that a person is moody for a reason! Why do they refer to the moody person as a teen i mean i have been depressed as a child it can happen to anyone at any age. We all have a heart. Its not our fault if the heart replays memories the mind wants to forget.

I can relate. I hide my feeling and if im happy its fake. If i sad i hide it cause i tell myself not to cry because its a weakness. Even if i know its not. Even when i get hurt and my teamates on the footy feild ask if im ok i might be tering up hut i still say im fine. The only time ive felt like ive really fit in was a state footy carnival. Me and my teammate clashed heads and i ended up with the black eye i tried hiding it and i didnt wanna cry. But they all saw it and knew i wasnt ok. For the rest of the game the prtected me they put even more effort just to not let me tackel anyone so it didnt get worst. I just wanted to continue playing like i normally would becaus ei hat attention. My oarents say im an attention seeker and i only care for myself but its not like that. They just dont understand. I actually dont care about myself. I care more about the nature and environment than myself but just trying to protect yourslef in the world is selfish to parents just because they didnt have to protect themself back when they were kids because the world was safer.

I remember that teen period in my life. It was very frustrating at times. You are trying to figure it out and at times things felt so extreme. Some were. Some weren’t, looking back. At times “teenagerdom” could be regular, regular, regular, good day, great day, then next moment “what the...” you’re in your head, and bam. I was hurt, angry, disappointed, with myself but also realizing that the adults around me didn’t know everything I felt they should have. Things happen that you may feel they don’t understand. They may surprise you. If not, please find a counselor, mentor, or teacher you can talk to. But be willing to listen too. I didn’t know to look for that. I was also afraid of sharing what was going on. Whether you’re normal or an anomaly, you won’t know you have common ground with others unless you speak up. I had to learn to step over my usual. Shoulders back, not slouched. Care about yourself. You have value outside of your friend group and your family. Some people have it rough. Use those situations to step up, not step down. Take track, or a sport, leave it on the court, or the gym. If you’re creative, write it, art it, sing it, math it, map it, clean it, cook it.... but don’t eat it all share it. Other people can’t accept you more than yourself. I wish that I would have known then that others my age were going through similar things. My Mom always said “Pick your friends wisely!” but when you’re young, sometimes you just pick who picks you. Know Dear person you don’t have to have all the answers. We are all figuring out at different levels. It may not feel good all the time, but there is a lesson and beauty in each ugly stage. You just got to stick around to the end to get to it. I pray that you will be given new perspective and that you will learn how to deal with these anxieties and frustrations in a healthy way, not a perfect way. Just perfect for you. Writing, art, and prayer got me through. I also had a few close friends that I could share some things with. A few, not a plethora. I was nice to everyone, but everyone is not your friend.

Parents: oh you're 13, How would you know about depression? How would you know know about anxiety? How would you know about heartbreak? Gosh what are the schools teaching you? I don't understand how an adult who clearly knows about what is going in the world today, would think that a child doesn't "understand" depression or anxiety, well guess what parents! we do! some of us have to deal with fear and maybe even guilt of the past. overthinking is very common for any age not just teens or "adults". But what I don't understand is that our parents are the ones we are supposed to go to with our fears. But how are we going to do that if all you want to say is "you're a kid, you're going to be fine. you're not depressed, stop it"
@kelpieseas3494

Mine started when i was 12. And i suffer from anxiety as well, and the fact that nobody knows what i’m saying (because of the odd way i talk in my own language) makes it even harder to express myself. I once didn’t get a good result when i was 12 (about 70 something) and i got through a lot of thoughts, even as far as giving myself a “red pen mark” (which isn’t red pen) on the left arm. My parents thought i was influenced by someone, or perhaps i was overly pampered. But seriously, new and old lives are so different, if they thought beating can help with anxiety, i have no idea anymore. You need a this 🫂🫂 ur not alone

This is so relatable. All parents need to hear this song because it's like parents think that just because we are teenagers we are incapable of love or that we don't get heartbroken or depressed. We feel emotions just like they do so why do they not treat our emotions how they would like to treated when we or sad or moody. We are obviously sad for a reason that must mean a lot to us.

Yoo! So I'm 15 now, and ig your 19 now? So does it get better? Like how long does it last? Because I've been getting abused and treated like $hit for years by my dad. And I relate hard to this song. I made some bad decisions, because I wanted away from my dad. But the cops found me. And I know your probably thinking "Why didn't she just tell the cops and get help?" Well I did. That's where the "You ever think that you might be overreacting?" Part of the song hits hard. I was crying and begging the cops not to take me home. I told them that I was getting beat at home! I hade bruises and scars from it that I showed them... And they said "Your just a rebellious teen who wants to get out of trouble. Stop overreacting. You probably deserved it when he beat you." And then brought me home. I got beat for running away. So yeah, does it get better?

I do agree they give way to much homework in middle school. I know it sucks but you’ll get through it just like I did. I would say it gets easier but that would be a lie. As we grow up we simply become a little better at coping. The best advice I can tell you is to find what makes you happy and something you enjoy. Finding what you enjoy can help make the day seem happier and less daunting. It’s okay to take breaks sometimes to recharge before doing work. All in all I hope this helps at least a little and I hope it gets better for you.

Then, you need to listen to said song on repeat while looking at your fave food... but it's your fave color. lol, I'm here for you, no matter what, I know I'm just some rando on the internet, but I hope this helps brighten your day because you are valid and a beautiful person. *virtual hug*

parents need to think before THEY speak. before you say anything to them just think about how they’re going to feel, that’s the thing with parents they say think before you speak but they don’t think before THEY speak. if you’re depressed they say you don’t know what depression is or you just want attention, they just don’t understand..

I know people can relate, and I totally understand that. But lots of people forget how much our parents do for us. They make sure we have a roof over our head, clean clothes on our back, and food on the table. They make sure that we are at our best even when they're at there worst. If your parents are ignoring you like this, they most likely have a *ton* on their plate. God bless parents, they bring light to darkness, sun to shade, and leaves to trees. Mom and Dad, I love you to death and more.

Many people say they relate because they're depressed, but I don't think you have to be depressed to relate to this song. I had a stage where I was always depressed and it was horrible and lonely and I did that to myself. I mean I understand that there are things that bring us down and there are always going to be things that we're never going to like, but I had to learn that I had control over how I felt and I wasn't going to let the things I can't control, control me. It's all about your mindset. When I was two I was put into foster care, and because of that I always thought that no one could ever love me because the people who gave birth to me and shared my DNA couldn't. I was adopted when I was 7 and continued visits with my birth parent until I was 9 until something happened and the judge said it was illegal for my birth father to see me. I now have amazing parents that a lot of the time I don't agree with and at most times, I feel, don't understand me. Then I have to realize that they're only human and they make mistakes just like I do.

middle school's been a hell of a ride for me. i've been through so many ruff patches- whether it's fake friends, no friends, drama, anxiety, sadness, too much work, and parents that sometimes that don't know about your pain. it's all been such heavy weight on my shoulders and there has been many times where i have sat on my bathroom floor for hours bawling my eyes out praying for help. so to let you all know, i'm so sorry for whatever you're going through, and just know that you aren't alone. luv ya:)

They think we have it so easy because our jobs are school and chores, but then you get deeper. You realize friends you’ve had for years hate you and they’ve been using you or you discover sexuality or you can’t describe this feeling or explain why you cry every time you leave a room. You can’t explain the anxiety you feel, and you hate being controlled by everyone when you’ve done nothing wrong. Sometimes you feel numb, sometimes you’re exhausted for no reason, and sometimes you feel like crying and locking yourself away. We’re not all stupid, we’re just scared and trying to discover ourselves. You’d understand if you remembered what it was like and how painful and scary it is to try to figure out who you are, keep up with school, and whatever else is going on in your life. You might think we’re stupid but really we’re just hurt and think you won’t care or just call us dumb.

This song! I started to pass it because of the topic, glad I listened. This song is so beautiful and genuine. She captured that angst with such authenticity. This song must have been very cathartic to get out! Her voice is so honest. It’s juxtaposed so nicely between the purity of her thoughts and the depiction of growing up as a teen in this time. Wow! Real lyrics, real heart. Beautiful.

Here's my advice, mind you, it will take guts. So, it's 3 AM at your house/apartment/other living space. You slowly wake up, get down from your bed and hook up your phone to your very powerful speaker. Then, at full volume, blast this song. (make sure your door is locked and blocked off by heavy shit like your dresser, a chair, a shelf... etc.) Then, once your parents stop screaming at you to turn off the music, hopefully they will actually listen to the lyrics and possibly have a civil conversation with you without being asshats.

Why, just why is it always the kid/teens fault? I really, really want to know. And no i am NOT too young to understand the meaning of ‘stressed out’ or ‘depressed’ its not always a part of being a teen, or becoming one. Sometimes...we really are. I understand you try, but maybe not always hard enough. You may never understand, and thats ok, but at least dont always blame us. It isnt always my fault my mind wont stop reminding me of memories or things people have said, that make me hurt, break down, and cry. Or when im locked in my room. You know why i am? No you dont. You may think you do..but you dont. Have you ever thought maybe a kid/teen really could be hurting? No, apparently not its just always because “you’re always on your phone too much.” Maybe, my phone (music specifically) is my escape from things..from reality, and whats going on. Ever think i wonder what would happen if i kill myself? Ever think i sometimes want to? No. You are too oblivious to notice, or even care. Parents... You really, really miss out on a lot. Sometimes pick up on the little things, that lead to something larger. Not just assuming right away. That makes me so frustrated. Especially when they blame it on something that actually may help me. My goodness, parents. You really dont understand. Just to make it clear: anyone struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, and suicidal things... it will get better. I promise you with my entire life it does. Life is a roller coaster, with ups and downs, but you always will make your way back up.

I appreciate this and I 100% agree! Majority of parents don’t give two shits I swear. As they say every child deserves parents but not every parent deserves a child. I’ve dealt with my parents not understanding as well. I’ve honestly been depressed since I was about six or somewhere around there. I was always kinda neglected and my so called friends never wanted to hang out with me or do anything I wanted to do. I’ve had so many times that have felt like a blur that my mind has made me forget. And it always frustrates me when people say “just talk to someone” cause like I have and when I do it never works out. The time they really started taking my issues seriously resulted in me talking about and them never mentioning it again and never helping me. They think that one little brief of what goes on in my mind is gonna solve my depression. No maybe it would help with sadness because that’s temporary but depression is different. I realized I wrote a whole rant… sorry about that lol.

Yoo! So I'm 15 now, and ig your 17 now?
