my mom and I got a matching tattoo last year. she was like "oh we need to wash our tattoos" next day. and she was like here I'll help you. she proceeded to scrub it with one of the roughest wash cloths in existence. He came back into the shop 3 months later livid and shouting about his infected tattoo. We asked him all the standard questions, and asked to see the tattoo. I called 911 the moment he lifted his pant leg. Because the saniderm was still sealed by what looked like some type of tape on the edges the skin and flesh underneath had wet rotted to the bone. For those with questions: - You can shower with it on. It lasts the full fivee days even if you shower every single day. - I use it for all of my tattoos so that no dirt gets into it for the first five-ish days while the tattoo stops being raw. It basically means that you don't have to worry about getting infections from anything that touches your tattoo before it is closed. - I personally find it helpful too because I've gotten tattoos away from home and it's made sure my new tattoos didn't leak anything into hotel beds.

Saniderm also has been used for people who have suffered with burns, roadrash, and cuts. Dont be afraid if you might think it damages the skin (it hurts a bit when taking it off without water). And when your tatoo heals, you will sometimes see a bubble of ink and body fluid. That is apart of the healing process and will happen no matter what but the wrap is there so no germs and anything will get in there and cause infection.

neat fact, saniderm, second skin, and other similar products used at tattoo shops were originally developed as a dressing for burns

Saniderm or second skin is a game changer. It takes the hassle out of the healing process and the tattoo remains vibrant. It heals very evenly as well, no big sections of scabbing at all.

My tattoo artist has been using this method for quite some time, and I find it really convenient. They put the first sticker on day 1, by day 2 I change it for a new one, from there it's 4 days more and then one last sticker for 4 days and it's all done with that. You can shower, live your life, no worries about the peeling process of the skin and ink, less itching and very unlikely to get it infected, so a win win for me 🎉

Saniderm is meant to be placed directly on the ink after it's been finished and washed at the shop to prevent all exposure to potential infections once you leave the shop, not the next day.

I was so hopeful for this. Tried it with my last and had the worst allergic reaction. I’m not even allergic to plasters. My skin bubbled and it felt like it was on fire. Lasted for 3 weeks as well. Definitely try a test strip while still at the tattoo shop before getting tattooed

Second skin helped me heal mine so much faster and I didn’t have to worry about it drying out or touching my clothes or rubbing!

Ive always just kept it covered overnight and then let it air dry for the next week or so. All my tattoos look fairly vibrant years later

I love this product but unfortunately after using it I found I was allergic to the adhesive and can no longer us it. It definitely is a game changer to keeping you tattoo sanitized and covered.

Used this on my latest tattoo, keeps it clean and reduces risk of scratching!
