I only had like 3 non visible tattoos before I completely blasted my left hand at 19 lol. I always knew since I was a kid that I wanted to be covered in tattoos and tattooing my hand was also a commitment to myself to live the life that I wanted to live despite societies expectations of me. Now at 25 with only 1 leg left to compete I have no regrets. People were constantly telling me that I would have a hard time succeeding but I think success is subjective and to me success is being happy with who I am. And even still I have a great job as a paramedic that I absolutely love and my tattoos tend to be the topic of conversation with patients so it’s a win win for me 😁

🤘 I love it. I'm in nursing school right now and one of the things I'm most proud of is being on my way to joining the tattooed ranks of the health care system. You'll never find such a real group of people as EMS and nurses who live their lives on their own terms. And it shows. Thanks for sharing your story, it helps me feel more confident about the people I'm going to work with in the future.

Times are just a lot different, in terms of tattoo acceptance in mainstream culture. 20 years ago, no one with hand and neck tattoos could work any kind of hospitality/retail jobs (obviously with a few rare exceptions). Now, it’s not rare at all to see hand, neck, or even face tats on people working in those industries. Hell, even cops can have full sleeves now.

I'm lucky enough to work in video game industry as a 3D artist and this industry is so open minded and free, can have pretty much anything you want from full sleeves to hands and neck (I have both sleeves & hands) and nobody cares. More, it's even seen as very artistic and pretty cool. As long as that tatts are not offensive and racist shit, you're good to go. Great area to work for this.

25 and just got both my hands tattooed today. I have 2 whole sleeves and my whole chest and Ive always wanted to get my hands but Its one of those where its like a big big commitment cause you cant cover them haha. Luckily, Im self employed and I hit a point where im financially comfortable to get this tattoo without worrying. I didnt want to get my hands tattooed if I didnt know what I wanted to do with my life and Im happy I had this mentality instead of the "YOLO" Mentality. My parents dont like me getting my hands tattooed but I told them" its what you dont like, but what about what I like and dont like? If I keep living the life you want me to live I wont be living my life, Ill be living yours". Once I said that my dad understood and he actually supported me but my mom is a bit conservative but when I said that she understood. I believe sleeves are so normal now and tattos in general are so acceptable and I think in 10 years the hands will be accepted more. I dont think the neck and face will ever be accepted. Neck is cool af but face is dumb af LOL

Atm i have 2 tattoo's, my first was set with my sister and mother together at our ankle 3 birds ( set at age 17). My second was the starformation from my own starsign (Taurus) with a moon on the background and it is placed on the inside of my lower arm (set at age 18) . My third is wil be set over a week its basicly a pile of books with Wanderer under it as text with some details hidden, this one stands for learning about myself and seeking myself. U have made the design self so this one will be pretty special , it will be placed at my shoulderblade ( i am 19 when This one Comes on me). My grandparents are strictly against tattoo's, piercings and stuff like that, they think about it as assaulting my body. They respect my choice and try to support it in their own way. The first 2 tattoo's were pretty long thought about but my newest the third i have designed and drawned it over a time streak of 5 months.
