I picked up a G2C a month or so ago; couldn’t resist for only $200. I keep it as a glovebox gun. I feel that it shoots very well. I don’t see how anyone can go wrong picking one up.

Nice and professional review of one of the top selling 9mm sub compacts on the market for the past 3 years. Yes, it is a budget gun and I only paid $225 out the door but am glad to say I have not had one single problem (jamming, misfire, etc.) since owning it. With anything you buy, there will be times when someone gets a lemon (including Glocks, Sigs, Springfields) but based on the number of PT111's that have been sold and the number of reviews I have seen, most people are presently surprised how good this gun is for the price. For self defense, I would recommend this handgun to anyone and I carry it with confidence that it will do the job it was intended for.

Good accurate review. I have shot this pistol for about 17 months and your review matches up with my experience, even to the sore spot on my finger from the trigger guard. I have two of these pistols, one with the stainless steel slide (about $20.00 extra) and they come with two 12 round magazines, a great value. The springs in the magazines are very stiff, but will relax a little over time. The Mec gar made Sig p226 (15,18 &20 ) and P228/229 (15&18) magazines fit fine and lock back.The triggers in my PT 111 G2 are a bit different , one(older) is smother than the other(newer)one, so maybe it will wear in over time. I took a chance and bought kydex IWB holsters off E-bay from SAS holsters ($25 each with free shipping) and they are a good fit, with adjustable cant and retention, very happy with that deal.

I own a few of these and I have zero complaints...the triggers lighten up alot the more its shot and can't remember one single malfunction out of any of them even steel cased ammo is good to go on occasion. Very accurate and if it gets stolen your not out a whole lot (one of my truck guns). Great all around gun to have laying around! Thanks for the great video Sir!👍🇺🇸

Agree with the review except the loaded chamber indicator. I would never carry a dirty gun .if your weapon is so dirty to the point that the indicator would stick up on its own you got bigger problems" then do I have around in there or not".

You are certainly welcome to trust if you wish. I don't carry dirty guns but I would never trust a loaded chamber indicator. It costs nothing to open the slide a bit and use your finger to 1,000% verify if there is a round in the chamber or not, no matter what the chamber indicator says. Thank you for watching and posting.

I have one of these. My intent was to buy the S&W SD9VE because I only had $300 and really wanted to buy my first handgun. Cabella's had the SD9VE on sale for $269 but by the time I got paid and took my $300 (my gun budget, not my whole check lol) to Cabella's it wasn't on sale anymore. I noticed the PT111 was on sale however for $199. I had seen a few reviews on it here on KZitem so I went with it. I was able to pay for the pistol, my BGC, 2 boxes of target ammo and a case to put it in for under $250! Ok, my experience with it. I've had my Taurus PT111 G2 since October. I've only been able to take it out 3 times so far. I've put close to 400 rounds through it including Tula and Winchester steel cased, Federal and Remington brass cased all FMJ. I also put some 23 year old hollow point reloads through it that I found in my Dad's ammo cans after he passed away. I've only had 2 malfunctions which I'm positive were my own fault. One stove pipe and one double feed. As I said before, this is my first handgun and I'm still getting used to gripping and firing it properly. Pretty sure I limp wristed it to get those malfunctions. Everything you said in your review is 100% accurate in my experience with this pistol. The slide lock does stick out a bit more than I would like. I have had it catch on my Cannae holster when practicing drawing it from my Cannae Urban Prefect's concealed compartment. The trigger is a little bit of a pain in the ass with that safety on it. As far as trigger pull, I don't really have anything to compare it with to know what a good, crisp trigger feels like. Most of my shooting experience comes from my M1 Carbine and a Savage 64 .22lr. I suppose I would consider my M1 to have a crisp trigger but nobody else has ever shot it and said "damn, this M1 has a crisp trigger" lol. The only things I don't really like about mine is the magazine release and that trigger guard hump you spoke of. The trigger guard does leave my middle finger a bit sore by the end of my range time and the mag release is in a bit of an awkward place for me to hit it without adjusting my grip. I chalk that up to my lack of experience and buying a sub compact handgun when I have canned hams for hands lol. Overall I do love this gun. I have fun shooting it and am hoping to get my CHL by the end of the year. Until then I'll keep practicing and learning from channels like yours. Thank you for all your time, for sharing your knowledge and for your service!

Why do people have a problem with loaded indicators so long as you take care of it the gun gremlins won’t mess with it. Plus it’s better at night to feel for that then turn on a light to look through a peep hole but I’m a firm believer of to each their own good review also
@tireiron

If you have enough light to see in the little hole that works too, but only if you have enough light. The only way to know FOR SURE in all lighting conditions is to pull back slightly on the slide and feel for a cartridge. Thank you for watching and posting.

Love your commentaries. Loaded Chamber Indicators: Wasteful. Double-Strike? Might as well throw the gun at them if you're relying on that. Magazine disconnects just make your gun useless when you're reloading and FORCE you to insert a magazine as a part of the disassembly process. Great vid as usual. Thanks!

Mine is new, got about 300 rnds through it. It doesn't like steel cased ammo. It runs brass fine, and hp defensive rounds. I bought a 15 round mag from CTD. After a minor tweak the mag runs good. Disappointed that it won't run everything. I may polish the chamber some more and see if that doesn't help.
@tireiron

That sucks it doesn't run steel case. I only put a handful of steel through the one I tested, and it ate them, but...it was less than 10 so that is not a good indicator.

This is my first gun, and I like having the safety for good training being my first sidearm. I will probably get some flack for saying that, but oh well, that's my opinion.
@tireiron
6 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with using the safety at all. No one should give you flak for using the safety. The only thing I would caution is to TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN to always take it off. That is the biggest thing I see in classes, people draw their pistol and forget to take the safety off. This happens with EVERY handgun that has an external safety, so it is not a design problem with the Taurus. If you use the safety you just have to train more to ensure you always take it off.
@budgetguncinema7777

I keep the safety on with mine too. But I also practice switching it off as I draw it from my holster. Like these wise older guys say, train all day everyday until it's second nature.

I dunno I hear both good and bad about the g2 all I can do is collect dats from different utube reviews and tie that in with my time actually shooting my g2 and so far the data along with my personal experience tells me I have a really good budget gun so far after only 400 rounds through it. I have nothing but good experiences with this gun.now that doesn’t mean something couldn’t go wrong in the future but as of now I’m gonna put in the aftermarket guide rod wich seems to be at the center of many malfunctions and keep putting rounds down range but hey I also have a smith and Wesson.38special and shield 45 so I have options!

I actually look for a select few people's opinion on handguns and you are one I do look for. I've carried this pistol for 3+ years as my E.D.C. Personally, I like the trigger. Regarding loaded chamber indicator I never keep an unloaded firearm anywhere. I'm an old 1911 guy who went polymer when I bought this. Thusly, I like a thumb safety, use it or not up to you. Sights, I agree 100% with you! However, Lakeline has sights for these. Magazines, you will need an assist loader for me is a must after 8 or 9 rounds. I only run brass ammo but folks do run steel and aluminum, their prefernce. Ergonomics, for me are great, as well as the 12+1 capacity. Like any firearm theer are haters. Has Taurus had issues, yep! However, the PT111 is probably the most purchased budget handgun today. Again, an honest review. I like the fact you deal with fact and not opinions. Thank-you for another great review which even if it was negative, I still appreciate your fact based reviews!
@tireiron

Thank you for the kind words. I like that the thumb safety doesn't stick too much, that way those that like them can still use them, and those of us that don't, the safety doesn't get in the way. Thank you for watching and posting.

The reason money comes into the equation is because the Taurus PT111 is inferior in quality, fit and finish than other makes/models. However, FOR THE MONEY (meaning you are not expecting the quality/fit/finish of higher costing guns) the Taurus is a great value. Thank you for watching and posting.

I have both. The shield is a great pistol for tucked carry. and its better out of the box. The taurus is more of an edc, that hook in the mag plate really hurts deep concealability. I replaced the trigger after about 6mos as I have very long fingers and couldn't deal with the takeup. The new trigger is awesome I may start using it for edc over my much heavier hk usp compact.

I have handguns costing in the thousands. They're fine tuned machines. Just looking at one will make most gun enthusiasts weak in the knees. I have shoes that cost more than the G2, yet it does exactly what it was made to do and does it well. I don't think Taurus intended the G2 to be a match gun that runs tens of thousands of rounds a year. It's a low-cost option for those that even find Glocks too expensive. Most Taurus G2 owners won't even shoot up a single box of ammo in their lifetime. My grandfather bought his new .32 S&W in the early 70s. Only 2 rounds are missing from the box of ammo he purchased with it. That's probably true of most gun owners.

I've never seen someone use their support hand grip a gun like you do. At reason why? I'm curious. Oh,by the way,Nutnfancy broke the trigger safety dingus on his PT111 in 9 degree fahrenheit weather. Curse of the desert????
@tireiron
6 жыл бұрын
My grip? I don't know, that is how I grip it.... That trigger safety dingus is stiff, I tried to measure the pull weight of just the dingus and it was close to 4 lbs all by itself. I didn't fully trust my methodology of measuring the pull weight of the dingus, that is why I didn't mention it in the video. Thank you for watching and posting.

Newer pt111's have a slightly modified and heavier duty dingus. Still trigger and dingus are the worst part of the whole pistol. I replaced mine with a 25usd replacement that killed the DA pull and got rid of a lot of takeup. I always use the manual safety myself.

Some are - some aren't. My experience with these in class is they generally run well as long as they are lubed correctly. They will not run when dry - they must be well lubed. I put Brownells Action Lube on them, it is a very sticky lube that won't dry out or run or burn off. Thank you for watching and posting.
