I am okay paying my fair share so long as I get the same benefits like everyone.

The only problem is I don’t want the government deciding where the money goes, it should be up to the people

So no matter how much I make, I'm going to have the same standard of living as everyone else. So my question is, where is the incentive to be rich in these countries if you live like everyone else?

There are many rich people in Denmark - who aren´t living like "everybody else"! But the gap between the poorest and the richest in Denmark is not as big as in most other countries! But the most of our population belongs to the middleclass - and are well off. With their own nouse and perhaps a summerhouse in the countryside, at least one car - many have two because both in a couple works, and are going on vacation once or twice a year mostly in southern Europe or f.ex. in Thailand. So in fact, Denmark is regarded as one of the richest countries in the world! And almost all danes are proud of our welfare and taxation system - because it is human and with a high degree af social dignity!

Rob Clasen bc not everyone study to make more money. Some people study to become their best selves, to live your best life. To learn how to think, live. That's priceless. That's better then a high standard of living. Obviously you haven't gone very far in school.

I've gone far in the school of life and I don't need college to tell me how to live. Money makes life easier. But hey just keep thinking and I'll keep doing.

True, I don't get that either. The market should already provide for most of the public expenses. This seems like inefficiency. Countries like Denmark are not inviting for young professionals who can move to countries like Singapore or Australia, have a higher disposable income and consequently a better life. Denmark has to level up its game.

Rob Clasen Depends on your definition of rich. S No one is stopping you from being rich but since your on here and not busy flying around on your private jet I assume you haven’t reach that higher level of being a superior human despite where you live. You live on a ball floating in space and you will only live maybe into your 70s and then your dead. Enjoy the small moments and be happy your healthy.

they have the geographic and cultural allowance to be able to do this type of stuff but America has too difficult of a geographical location to be able to tax this much and except immigrants and shit it wouldnt work with 300 more million people.

How so? More people = more taxes being paid = more services being provided
@fort6564

what? that doesnt make any sense. The reason why you guys will never get this system is because of the billions of dollars being lobbied to politicians by fortune 100 companies would never ever allow this happen. Imagine a $20 minimum wage in the US, that could never happen under the circumstances you guys are in now.
@amandamosteller1371

@@fort6564 exactly. Progress doesn't happen because lawmakers are being paid to not change anything. For example Universal Healthcare is absolutely possible here in the USA BUT insurance companies donate to politicians who in return tell citizens that they'll lose their health insurance under a M4A system. How does that make sense?

If you put 100 Danish crowns through the entire tax system (not just income tax)you will remain with 20 crowns in your wallet . Tax is bad because you allow other people to spend your money. It is a severe attack on personal freedom.

Average debt for medical students in the US: $200,000. Average debt for medical students in Denmark: $0 That seems like a gain in freedom, doesn't it?
