Join Taylor Balfour for the launch of her poetry collection At Least We'll Always Have Spring (Vanguard Press).
At Least We’ll Always Have Spring is a collection of elegiac poetry and prose. It captures themes of mental health, addiction, and grief. Originating as her Honours thesis project, Taylor Balfour’s At Least We’ll Always Have Spring captures the sorrow surrounding the loss of her younger sister, Rachel Ella “Fenway” Balfour. Her poems detail the feelings and situations that follow grief, from the haunting of a similar sound to dwelling over her empty passenger seat, Taylor Balfour uses language to capture the feelings of devastation and longing that are associated with the trauma of loss and the ever-growing opioid crisis.
The event will feature a series of readings, a keynote speech, and an open question and answer session, concluding with a book signing. This event serves as a valuable opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue around local art, poetry, mental health, and the opioid crisis affecting our local communities.
Taylor Balfour is a writer, poet, and creative from Regina, Saskatchewan. Her poetry explores mental health, addiction, and grief. After losing her sister, Rachel, to fentanyl poisoning in 2019, Taylor’s passion turned to advocacy for harm reduction and safe consumption. Taylor's powerful poetry and activism are driven by her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, and her words are a testament to the transformative power of art and activism.
