I know this isn’t what Taylor probably meant when she wrote the wrong but I think this song applies beautifully to the people who daydream as a coping mechanism/maladaptive daydreamers.

As a 50 year old, I was a fan of a lot of artists in my younger years and have followed their careers, studied their lyrics, and watched them grow as I grew. I never imagined that I would find an artist this late in life that inspired me as much as Taylor has. She is the greatest storyteller and songwriter of our time and possibly of all time. She has a special talent for capturing "the moment" of falling in love, betrayal, disappointment, heartbreak, sadness, anxiousness, forgiveness, and healing. Wow how lucky we are to have her in this world. I hate it hear a little less because of you Taylor.

Never has somebody put depression so simply yet described is so perfectly. I hate it here. I have for years. I just want the pain to end so I escape into my mind, but the past wasn’t kind either. I hate it here.
I've been there, wrong job, wrong city, constantly under threat, and a narcissist birth family since childhood. Oddly, the thing that got me away from all that was getting hit by a car and becoming disabled. Basically, I lost everything, then more, and had to rebuild my life from zero.

Damn... the song that made me burst out crying was "I Look in People's Windows" because the first time I ever saw my husband was 19 years ago through his mom's kitchen window, he was looking back at me. Funnily I found out later that he was looking at me through my bedroom the night before. Sounds creepy but it was extremely romantic to me at the time. That song took me back to the moment I locked eyes with him; I could picture it. To add, we were long distance after that for a year so the "if-only", "south, south" and "northbound" lines really got me as well. Basically the whole song felt like it was written for me in a way... isn't it crazy that songs can do that for us? Anyways, I hope you find happiness again finance guy ❤

Oh my, your comment reflects the things I'm going through in my life now. I'm younger and I haven't made a career but I'm certainly facing the same: isolation, loneliness, and frustration for not finding a purpose in life. I didn't cry with this song but that doesn't mean it didn't strike a nerve. Taylor is so gifted to write such poetic and touching lyrics and that's why I love her so much. She's such a comforting angel and significant inspiration for lost souls like mine 🥹 I just hope you can overcome those struggles someday. You're still so young and I'm quite sure you can get better ❤️🩹 Have you tried to see a therapist? I'm seeing one now and trying to trust that eventually I'm gonna get out of the void 🩶

I struggle with depression and have social anxiety, life can get pretty bad/hurtful, so I like to live in my daydreams, I look forward to dreaming every night, it's my way of escaping reality, if I could stay there I would, but even if not, it does kinda help me to keep on going in this life, it helps me not to end things. this was very relatable.

Btw in your opinion how did an average tall skinny guy like Joe Alwyn bedded a woman like Taylor for some time? Given that she was both older and richer than him. Also in your opinion which lady allows facials and/or swallows for her man between Amanda Seyfried and Taylor Swift? Given that they are both friends and that Amanda is a mom and Tay had younger dudes. Also in your opinion do the ladies eat garlic and onion sometimes? Perhaps to troll their man before a date and/or to avoid segs later that night? hehe Given that Tay likes to cook. So given that its all speculative, answer it, don`t be snowflakes.

This how I interpret this song: The song means about how she hates how society is now so she daydreams about another place. She doesn’t like the people surrounding bcuz of how they r behaving towards her so she keeps her to herself and fantasies. Placating is a pattern of communication in which people will say or do something just to please others or to keep them from getting upset. Going along with the crowd is easier for people with low self-esteem. They are afraid to do or say anything that might call negative attention to themselves.

If Taylor Swift replied to me comment right now i will literally cry because i have been a Taylor Swift fan ever since i was 2. The first song i ever knew was better man and it made me cry when u played better man at the eras tour. You are my idol. And thanks to my aunt for getting me into Taylor Swift. You have relatable songs to a 15 year old girl, i have been though a lot of stuff when you where young. The most relatable song u made is the moment i knew. We all love u sooo much- your youngest swiftie to Taylor Swift🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
