Great video, just assembled mine last night, yup, bent hopper flange and the damper was slightly bent as well. I took some time and was able to straighten them out. Added oil and fuel and it started right up. Very pleased with it after 1/2 hour of testing.

Great little work-horse! Assemble the hopper before bolting it in place, & fill with oil before adding the chipper chute. Ran it all day yesterday with no problems, now 8 cedar trees are now a pile of mulch & a few logs!

I bought this for my husband...I also got the vacumm system. His also had a bent area, but not as severe as the one in this film was. Also, oil was all over the machine, and he hasn't checked to see if the oil bottle is punctured. Just started putting it together today. Now, there is NO damper. Initially he thought he must have chucked it, and I hadn't seen how he unpacked it. Watching this, it appears it just didn't come with it, as it should have been in the hopper and not inbetween the foam stuff. Will go to customer service and will also see how we are accomodated. Love this film, as it helped us problem solve...thanks so much

Great video. It helped me assemble the same unit today. My unit had the same bent flange on the hopper base. Must be an equipment glitch at the plant.

I bought one. The first day, it had a chipper knife come loose at full throttle, and it slammed into the flywheel housing, sending the machine cartwheeling across the yard. It was quite impressive to watch! It fractured the crankcase in 4 places! Tazz replaced it with a 900 series. It's just as weak as the first one. Anything above dry twigs and pinecone is a struggle. It's not worth the $500. Might make a fair go cart engine, though.

Bag support straps ripped out first few days of use and the machine frequently clogs unless material is bone dry

Appreciate the instructions! Purchased the K31 (Briggs & Stratton engine), but same poor design on the damper. It's stuck in the open position now after trying to slide it as I tightened each nut. Will be contacting Earthquake (Tazz) to complain and seek some solution.

Advice for anyone assembling this: Close the damper. If you happen to drop a screw at least it will stop there and not roll down into the chipper. 👍

Excellant review! Would you advise others to use blue loctite, or are the nuts nylon locking nuts? Is it important to include that sliding damper if you have no plans on purchasing the vacuum option?

I appreciate your assembly. The damper was problematic for me as well. I'm just going to omit it for the time being.

It's really not that hard to assemble, IF everything fits together the way it's supposed to. But for me, that was the problem.

If it says 3-inch capacity why not try a 3 in log especially when it looked like you had some available?

Thanks for the video. I just got done fighting that stupid damper too. Looks like it's nothing to stress over and not needed. By the way. My hopper was bent the exact same way. Why do you think they did that? You have the same bends as I did. I used a rubber mallet and pliers to re form the metal.

Got in touch with customer service, after proving I had the machine (thank heavens I still had the receipt) I was told the replacement parts would be sent. Has not arrived as of yet...will post when it comes...it has been a bit over a week now.

Thanks for the assembly instructions! I just received my K33 a couple of days ago. Unboxed it yesterday, haven't put it together yet. Lucky for me, I only had one small piece bent and that one's an easy fix. For further info on the piece that was bent, see my unboxing video, at the 7:20 mark, link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lpd9zp2CiJNqeHY Like Eric, I think I'll omit the damper. I have no intention of ever using the vacuum feature, so the damper isn't necessary for my purposes.

Same here. One other thing, when the damper's open, it rattles horribly. Makes the unit about 50% louder than it needs to be.

Has anyone sharpened the cutting blades yet? Is it difficult?
@selfsufficientpath
4 жыл бұрын
I haven't yet. I know on my old chipper the challenge wasn't sharpening the blades, it was getting too them and removing them so they could be sharpened. Not really difficult in that case, more just a pain in the rear.

How do you get oil in the motor, got to get long funnel or put in b4 putting together
@selfsufficientpath
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a long funnel is best. Otherwise you're going to end up wasting a fair amount of oil. At least I would. :)

Is this chipper still working well after almost 2 years of use? Would you still recommend it? Are there any issues that you would point out to potential consumers?

I didn't get to use it much last year, as we were moving to a new property. Right now it looks like firewood / clearing fence lines will be a mid-Summer task. Should be able to get back to you then. I can tell you I started it up about two months ago, after sitting idle for almost a year, and it started right up. That's gotta say something.

So how did customer service handle the issue of the dented hopper? I’ve got the same dent, must have been a batch defect.

Have to admit, I don't know. I had every intention of reaching out to them. But we're in the process of building a house, and with everything going on, it just fell off the table. As I don't ever intend to use the damper, I'm probably just going to take it out and put some kind of spacer in it's place. It's too loud with it just hanging off the side and vibrating the way it does.

@@selfsufficientpath Great review. Very detailed. Like your style. After a year, how are the blades holding up? That is about the only issue left for me to choose this model as the one to buy. Thanks in advance for any final review you have for us.

@@a144systembuster8, the blades are still sharp. But I've spent the last ten months moving and settling into our new farm. Honestly, it hasn't been run much lately. However, we just had a big hickory come down, and I'm going to need to process that soon. Should be able to get back to you in a few weeks.
