This is way overdue. This is by far my worst flying aircraft, and has been for some time now. I hardly ever fly it any more. After testing the heck out of every single component over the past 6 to 8 months, trying to figure out why it lurches all over the place when moving forward, constantly struggles mightily to remain level, cannot hold position in the wind, is the worst camera ship I have ever created (including mini quads), and is by far the most crashed ship I own, I just give up. I quit.
The other day I felt charitable, and needed to test out some 4S batteries that behaved badly in another one of my new models, and so i charged them up, and put them in this model to see how they flew. This is usually a 5200mah ship, so I thought that trying to fly with 3700mah lipos could yield some interesting and / or positive results. I was wrong. It flew like crap. And that was the last straw. It was either a) rebuild the quad, or b) throw it away, because I certainly did not feel like flying it ever again. So, to be as kind as I could here, I decided to give the SuperX one more chance and use it in a frame which it would be more happy in. A True "X".
I wanted to keep as much of the old TBS as possible, and transplant the components over to the new platform. After looking extensively, and not selecting several really good frames (Cinetank MK2 L version, Quanum XJ470, Daya 550, XAircraft XCope, NEX N.E.O, and a couple others, I decided to go for a very dated X450 frame. I really like the Cinetank, and will possibly pick up one for the future. I am not quite sure yet. But I love it. The problem is, that I already have a lot of large frames like it. I just put a bid on one anyway, so we will see if I get it.
In the meantime, this is part 1 of the rebuild. I am supposed to maiden the quad after this video, and I do. This is detailed in my next post. I hope to get this out by the days end today.
As usual, Thanks for watching . . .
